According to recent statistics, tourism has jumped in our region by more than 30% over just the past 3 years, and more people are coming for our family attractions rather than just our casinos. Mardi Gras brought in an estimated 400,000-500,000 visitors (this isn't counting locals) over a period of 2 weekends last year. Louisiana Boardwalk has now become one of our largest destinations, proving that people are finally seeing that we have more to offer than just adult-oriented entertainment. According to a recent "return on investment" study conducted by the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, 59 percent of those responding said they had visited an area casino, while 41 percent said they had visited the Boardwalk.

And now the Convention and Tourist Bureau is expanding their facility downtown, modernizing the building's facade, adding more parking spaces, and creating interactive displays for visitors.

Finally! After trying for 11 years, Shreveport has landed the Bassmaster Classic for 2009!! This is a huge event, and it's in Greenville, SC this year.

Big news for Shreveport, whether you're a sporting enthusiast or not! This is JUST the kind of event our new convention center needed to land to prove itself.

This is their first ever stop in Louisiana outside of New Orleans. That city has hosted it three times in the past, and now here we are...

Congrats to us for landing this! Without the new convention center we most likely wouldn't have.
