University of Phoenix to open Birmingham campus

The Unversity of Phoenix expects to open up the first Alabama campus in Birmingham later this month.

The university will initially offer undergraduate degrees in Business, Management, Human Services and Health Administration. The will also offer graduate degrees in Business Administration, and Health Administration.

Classes will initially be offered at the Perimeter Park Hilton until a permanent location can be built in North Shelby County.

The school has 311,100 students and calls itself the largest private university in North America.

That's great news to see their interest and commitment to opening in the region, BUT why open in Northern Shelby County? Shelby already has a number of traffic problems as it is with it lack of road infrastructure and this will just make it worse. :unsure:
