Highspeed trains and a well maintained highway system( no different a system than we have now, just more well maintained.). Also some light rail thrown in for commuting.

Michigan needs a train that goes directly from Grand Rapids to Detroit!!! AMTRAK

I'm not sure about West Michigan, but this is what I think Southeast Michigan's commuter transit system should look like at some point in the future:

I would also like to see BRT or light rail run parallel to these routes along several major corridors including Hall Rd (from Pontiac to Selfridge), Big Beaver/Metro Pkwy (from Birmingham to Metro Beach), I-696 (from St. Clair Shores to Southfield), and 8 Mile (from Grosse Pointe Shores to Northville).
