A bill was introdocued last month in the state congress, that proposes the merging of the state police and transit police into one force. The state police are adamently against the idea, saying that there would be a huge expense in re-training and new equipment procurement. The tranist police are strongly for the idea, claiming that they are 100-300 officers short of being able to adequately patrol the entire tranist system (they currently have 230 officers).

What do you think? Should the state police reallocate officers to patrol the MBTA, or should more money be spent to hire new officers for the tranist police?
