Congressman Grijalva (D, AZ) Selected Chairman of National Parks Subcommittee

Recommended Posts

I received this as part of the congressman's "District Dispatch" e-newsletter but couldn't find any news articles on it, so I created a page since the notice was pretty lenthy.

Especially wanted to point out:

"On his first day serving as the chair of the subcommittee, Grijalva introduced a bill to expand the boundaries of the Saguaro National Park in Tucson, Arizona."

Not only is that good news for Saguaro NP and the whole National Park Service, but it's also tremendous news for the Forest Service and BLM, all of whom have been ailing from Bush's early budget cuts resulting in the loss of rangers, cutting programs, selling off (or "exchanging") land to timber and mining interests, and the expansion of outsourcing.
