SCTV comedy club coming to Design District

Recommended Posts

Just a little tidbit, but this could be very good for turning the Design District into a real living and breathing neighborhood.

A new comedy cable channel scheduled to launch in January 2005 is planning to locate one of its four combination studio-comedy clubs in downtown Miami.

Called Stand Up Comedy Television (SCTV), the Chicago-based channel will also have Studio Stages in Chicago, Phoenix and Los Angeles. Only the Chicago site has been acquired so far, but the company is actively seeking a spot in Miami's Design District, said Avi Fox, co-chairman of SCTV's parent company ECmi.

The Studio Stages will double as venues for stand-up comedians and as working studios where game shows, revues and interviews will be produced and taped.
