Mixed-Use Development Coming to North Bibb

As if the insane number of retail developments weren't enough...look for a new mixed use community (something similar to Northwest Macon's Opus development) to make its way to the same area near MarketPlace at Bass. A development containing townhouses, apartments, lofts, retail & offices is on the way. Let's stay on the lookout for info on this development.

Good grief, this section of town is growing at an alarming rate...should we be worried?

Here is some information found.....

A new mixed-use development is planned for north Bibb County less than two miles from the Bass Pro Shops outdoors store and several proposed commercial developments.

An application to rezone a 52-acre site at 5541-5561 Arkwright Road from single-family and multi-family districts to a planned development district is expected to be heard during Monday's Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission meeting.

The applicant, Dock Glawson, president of DSG Properties, plans a mixed-use development which would include residential, neighborhood commercial and office uses, according to the commission staff report.

Plans include 24 single-family lots, 55 town home units, 36 quad-apartments, 420 garden apartments, 12 lofts and 15,000 square feet of retail space.

The commission staff recommend approval of the rezoning because:

The proposal fits within the 2030 Future Land Use Plan.

Traffic generated by the proposal can be handled with existing roads and future improvements on nearby roads.

The proposal will not create an isolated district unrelated to nearby districts.

'The project will be developed in a manner to include a walking trail, streambeds and open space which could be a positive addition to the area,' the staff report states.

This is wonder news, i 'm looking forward in seeing whats all planned. I think worried should not even be the case, is should be happy, happy to see this area really start to grow and modernize as other cities, because Ga's cities are so behind compared to other state cities. Atl is the only city that has seem to have keep up with time. It time for macon to grow and modernize aswell.... Macon has so much potential and its time to use it...... BRING ON THE GROWTH.......
