It looks like they are actually starting work right away. Usually there is an official ground breaking and then happens on the site for a long time.

I took this picture of the site on a Wednesday afternoon and no work was being done. It looks like after they broke ground on the site they cleared the land and that's it. Hopefully more work will happen soon.

It's hard to tell on the webcam but it looks like things have changed alot in the 5 days since this picture was taken.

Not much has changed at the site in the last month. The Chamber building started after this but is now clearly ahead in the construction process. Hopefully work will progress on this building soon.

Well according to the Chronicle the building plans have been changed slightly to add a large glass canopy over the Western Avenue entrance to the building.

From the article:

Not shown on the original drawings released publicly last fall, a semicircular glass canopy will overhang the main entrance on Western. It will measure 30 feet wide and extend 7 1/2 feet over the sidewalk -- big enough to keep several people dry when it rains; big enough also to require an encroachment agreement with the city.

Sidock Group will take over the second floor as its headquarters, and open the ground floor to commercial uses -- possibly including at least one restaurant or coffee shop, for which the needed special ventilation is being incorporated into the construction.

Structural engineering is Sidock Group's bread and butter, and when the doors open in early July, first-time visitors will see some examples of it -- a skylit, two-story atrium running down the center of the building, stairs suspended on long metal rods, and a high arched window overlooking Western Avenue.

The building is nearly done, although it looks like it won't make the original July completion date.

This short wall makes me think a restaurant will be moving in to the retail space at the Western & Third corner of the building. Or maybe they are just hoping, I don't believe any of the retail has been announced yet.

The wall to screen the parking lot from view:

Peaking through a window with no glass in it you can see the lobby and the large skylight.

For some reason the back part of the building had one square of sidewalk. Any ideas why this was build before the rest?

Seating for a yet to be announced restaurant?

It's getting close to being done:

It looks like both sides have the possibility of outdoor seating:

I've never seen these classic-style mainstreet lights used in a private parking lot before, but they look much better then what they replaced
