Visually it is obvious that Billions (yes with a B) is being invested in downtown Grand Rapids, but has anyone added up the total of all the projects that have been finalized and approved by the city in projects that have yet to be finished?

Looking at my development thread, I count about $1.25 Billion approved and yet to be built. Only about $5 - $600 Million has kicked off so far. The biggies like the Children's Hospital at $190 Million, Van Andel Institute's HUGE addition at $150 Million and the Med School are still in the wings.

If you want a real big number, add the $700 million - $1 billion that was built prior to 2005.

And cities like Denver are getting props in the AP for reaching $500 million this decade. In GR's presence that is hardly a bump let alone a boom.

Judging by all thew cranes in DT, I'd say big fist full of money is being pumped into the city. If the city were brave enough to approve Faust for the Riverfront, his 1.5 to 2 billion dollars would be the iceing on the cake.
