Single Orlando Relocate to Charlotte (University) Area

Hi,

I'm a single guy possibly going to UNCC graduate school and was wondering what the area is like. From what i've seen on Realtor.com there are some good value condos/homes within a few miles of the campus (just looking for a 1/1). I'm moving from the Orlando area near UCF where it's just a mess. Many people have told me that Charlotte is similar to Orlando in terms of size, shopping, etc. but with good weather and more friendly people and women. I was thinking of the area between the Northlake Mall and UNCC itself. I teach/coach and like to be around the active, not to nerdy/yuppie crowd type. What experiences do you have?
