Buffalo, New York "a midwestern city?"

I can state a couple reasons why it qualifies as the midwest

-street grid system are mile long blocks. Eastern and downstate NY do not follow this type of street grid pattern nor does the rest of the northeast

-geographically/culturally is so far away from the northeast major cities. Cleveland is the closest major city if not Toronto

- accent is nothing near what you would expect from NYC or Boston. The accent sounds similar to what you would expect in the northern half of Ohio

- Situated along the Great Lakes Region

- Climatetolgy is similar to Detroit and Chicago with lake effect snow and strong winds. Buffalo by far gets way more snow with favorable winds from Northwest to Southeast but does not get windy conditions like Chicago would

- farming roots are similar with dairy products like Wisconsin is known for (cheese & milk)
