Top 10 "Oil-Independent" cities

Interesting article which ranks the nation's cities in their ability to sustain an oil crisis.

Density, low sprawl and a real transit system seem to be the best qualifiers.

It makes some assumptions like telecommuting would still be an option in the event of global energy woes, even if we could not generate enough electricity to run all of the computers.

Becoming "oil-independent" is one thing I would like to see GR strive for, but right now we're probably on the bottom of that list.
