My only question is, if they're touting it as one-of-a-kind, do you think they would announce a second one before the first is even finished?

well... is it the same group doing the work in St. Louis that would be doing this in GR? they are competing groups and you can claim "one-of-a-kind" for anything if the other group hasn't finished their project yet.

There are a lot of things about David Minkin on the web, but none that give away any good secrets. There was a man by the same name who passed away in late 2003. he was a developer in NYC who built many large projects. Could it be a relative? David Minkin from Atlanta got his JD from Harvbard in 1973, so he has some east coast history

The Bottle District is a $280/million development. Whatever is being done here is $1 - $2 billion.

The Bottle District is "Located just north of the Edward Jones Dome" so the $280 million doesn't include the cost of building that exisiting big ol' domed stadium.

The $1 billion+ estimate includes something of that scale, although a stadium/concert venue even with a retractable roof shouldn't cost a cool billion. Maybe half that at most.

That's something that hasn't been spelled out yet... are we talking about a retractable roof stadium... have we hit a rome run or are we just way off base here? (all sporting puns intended) ;)

Wood TV needs to think a little before they run out and claim Minkin is the developer. My guess is he is the attorney for the "developer" at least for the real estate entity. He could also be representing a national broker who is acquiring the property for someone else through Shurlow. The fact that he is the resident agent for the Illinois corporation and is signing on their behalf doesn't mean much at all.

This is bush league journalism by Wood TV. Everyone on this forum has done a better job researching it than they have!

That really does not make sense to dump billions(?) on a concept not even proven.

That is true, and a good point. Maybe we should be thinking about what could be bought for $1-$2 Billion that could fit on 30 acres involving entertainment. If this project in St. Louis is about the same size but only costs 10-20% of the budget for the GR project, just think of the possibilities. What in the world would cost this much? What are other current development projects in the U.S or world looking like in this price range?

It could be this guy. But don't worry about it... he's just the lawyer hired to do all the dirty work. This isn't where the money or inspiration came from.

If this Minkin guy hopes to pull this off, he's going to have to be a magician ... wait a minute ... maybe he is?

I saw the magician site too, it was funny. I hope this whole project does not disapear before it starts!
