Southerners less trusting?

Dr. Brent Simpson, a University of South Carolina sociologist, says Southerners are much less trusting of others, particularly strangers, than non-Southerners, according to research he has recently completed. He says his findings are relevant because other research has shown that lower levels of trust are associated with a variety of personal and social problems: less political participation, less economic development, unhappiness and shorter life expectancy. Maybe after having the burning and occupation of Atlanta, destroying the economy for years, telling people what and or who to put up with by the federal government, wittnessing how bad northern cities have declined due to crime and social problems, and stereotyping. No wonder they are distrustful
