Here is an update on a couple of new restaurants opening on Ionia in Cherry Street Landing:

McFaddens, in the Waldron Building, now has a website, and is definitely the same chain as the East Coast:

HRitz Koney Island (Home of the Chili Dillie) is opening soon in the ground floor of the Brunswick Building next door. I could not find a website yet:

Glad to see a couple more empty spaces getting filled. Any word on the BETA Design building's ground floor? I had heard that they were targeting Chili's, but couldn't work out a deal. When it was built, the building was declared a lynchpin between Cherry Street Landing and the existing entertainment businesses to the north. You would think that they could easily fill the space with that kind of notoriety.

Now we need to start getting some hard goods retailers in down there. Restaurants and bars are a great start, but destination retailers are whats going to help sustain the growth. Anyways, that is my $0.02 worth.

Yes it is. It's a Bar Management Group establishment. They also own Margarita Grill @ 25 Ottawa SW. Their portfolio includes McFaddens, Margarita Grill, Tiki Bob's, BAR, The Lodge, and there's probably one or two more sets of bars they own throughout the country.

I like the GR style chili dogs way better though.

I too perfer GR dogs to Coney or even Chicago. Chicago dogs have to many whole vegis, and the chili dogs have a bean base sauce, and gooey easy cheese. Maybe I would feel different if I haden't grown up on Yesterdog's, Corner bar dogs, and Redhot Inn dogs.

Koney and a Crystal?

I was down to mc Faddens last night and the Hritz Koney guys had some 3d protrait crystal setup in the Hritz Koney. I checked it out and would have bought one but was too intoxicated to make a purchace. Kinda odd for a Koney store but very cool. The closest thing to a web site for the Koneys I found was on the 3d crystal web site. www.3ducrystals.com
