The former Howard Johnson hotel on Biscayne Blvd is ready to come down. In its place will be the new Marquis, a new mixed-use residential tower, at 1100 Biscayne Blvd. Designed by Arquitect

It is suggested that if you want to see the implosion, you should be at Bicentennial Park no later than 7:30am, as that's probably when the streets are going to get closed off... Biscayne Blvd, NE 2nd Avenue, all the major ones...

Can anyone guesstimate about how many people were there to watch the implosion? I unfortunately couldn't make it (Partied too Hard) but i'm always curious about such things...

I would say there were about 20-30 people where I was, at Bicentennial Park. Seems a good chunk of them were mostly the developer, demolition company, media, a few city and county employees, their families, etc. It was a very low-key event. The developer wanted it that way.
