Here is an interesting development. The article is from the Springfield Republican.

"HOLYOKE - A corporation that owns five minor league baseball teams is considering moving one of them to Holyoke as part of a $110 million project that would include a new stadium, a hotel, offices, homes and apartments.

Mandalay Sports Entertainment Group of Cincinnati, which is involved in movies, television production and commercial development, is looking at properties near Holyoke Mall at Ingleside as a new home for its Detroit Tigers farm team, the SeaWolves of Erie, Pa.

Mandalay has submitted a project description to Mayor Michael J. Sullivan that calls for $110 million in investment to include:

75,000 square feet of office/retail space on 4 acres;

73 high-density, detached homes, 6 acres;

255 market rate apartments, 9 acres;

A 133-room hotel, 1.5 acres;

6,500 seat Double A ballpark, 8 acres;

Surface parking, 3 acres;

Open-green space, 9.8 acres."
