  1. Burt I checked and saw nothing new going on, Same paper covering the windows. Last I saw of our ABC inspector he had not heard anything either, so far no application was on file. We are curious as to whats going on as well as they are in the next block and all of us share parking from time to time.
  2. Burt, there hasn't been anything that I've seen next door But I'll take another look Tuesday
  3. Hey Burt, I just saw you last year and would never believe your age, but hey 80 is the new 60 so HAPPY BELATED !!
  4. Well speaking for the group of us on upper nose bleed ( ) The concert was really a great show. Our Boss got us the tickets to go with him and some friends. One in the group said they did not want to go because of the condition of the place. I gotta tell everyone it was one of the best I've seen there and the venue itself was clean and kept up! I do have to say we were in 18U which in looking around was 15 rows from the top. That was a bit for a couple of us, very steep! The sound was good way up there and the tran's was wonderful! Curses, we ducked out before the end due to memories of the folks lined up to get out...
  5. As a wonderful for us, not the first friday folks followup. The Boys on bikes (police) started issuing ticket and towing on Friday night. 4 car were towed out of the Zone. ( Turned out 3 were tenants in our building that enjoyed nightly free parking, they know better!) The city followed up with more towing on Saturday night and tickets this week. Yeah ! Someone listens.....
  6. Hey Burt and the rest ! On the parking issues..... So We have a Dedicated "PASSENGER LOADING ZONE" posted in front of our building. When we had a wedding a few weeks ago, It was full so the Limo stopped with flashers on to retreive the bride and groom. The happy guests lit their sparklers and prepared for them to appear and leave. JUST as they did the city police pulled up behind the LIMO and turned on the lights. Got out and dressed down the driver for saftey in a driving lane. While the guest watched.. the sparklers died out and some gest left. Thanks god the photographer had sense enough to keep shooting to distract them.. Call the 4th precinct LT. Monday was told to talk to lanier parking for enforcment. Got through to a nice lady who was getting the info about the property then stopped cold to tell me they don't work past 6 pm... the zone if from 6pm to 5am.............. Go figure?
  7. I may be wrong as I have not been watching the events as tight as I should have but I thought the Mayor had notified the school board ( That I don't think should be in city hall ) that they needed to move by a specific date. Seems he kept his word and the School Board thought they didn't need to listen or thought they couldn't be told what to do. I thing city services al things being City items should be in the Hall. The school board I think would be more effective in a place of their own and surly there is property that is owned by the city currently not being used that would suffice their needs. I also like what Mayo Wilder has done, I used to watch the councel meetings because of all of the crazies, now I watch to see whats taking place in my home town.
  8. hey all, I understand we are hosting something next week for the city that has to do with the revitalization plans? An yof the up'ers make sure to say hi !! Nice to put faces with Screen names, So far I only have met Burt!
  9. Ok the first RENDEZVOUS is 2 buildings East od the Restaurant 27 at the corner of Adams & Broad. We understand some enterprising guys are planning an opening in November, the is only banners on the windows as I drove by but I will try to walk over on Thursday. Yes the old ( gone now) Grampa Eddies is the same on there lease did not renew. I hav'nt heard of the gay club thing for the one at Mulberry, and the building is still in shambles. We've been KRAZY busy so forgive the lack of posts......
  10. Anyone heard any futher news? We are hearing that the place will be a club of some sort?
  11. Hey all Just got in from a preopening at "Grampa Eddie's Ribs & Chicken"located at in the old Julian's space at three chopt road and Cox in the westend of Richmond While they are in the finishing stages and tonight was a dry run for an established restaurant, it was quite nice. For those of you that arn't aware we get them nearer to Richmond from WAAAAYY out west broad street beyond short pump. I personally never went, but my table mates had and say that the new place would hold the entire building of the old one. Food was nice and filling and the portions were large. We had the baby backs and brisket, very nice. The place is pleasant, clean, has a nice outdoor deck and the staff was ready to please. ... since it was free, I'm not sure of the actual tab for 3 but I think around 70 would have covered everything and then some.
  12. Thanks Burt, It was a pleasure to see you! Seems as if you had a great time. Come again anytime.
  13. Wish you could have, We have weddings going every weekend until... December! Seems every first friday we seem to have a wedding through the season. We have been open with some art from time to time . The building is pretty interesting by itself. Come on by any time you can, I love to show the place ...
  14. Hey Guys ! What a treat I got to meet Burt on Friday! what a blast. Hope he didn't melt over the weekend.....
  15. We would love that Idea as well! Also a bit of prudent pruning wouldn't hurt! the wonderful trees in front of our building are massive and block the building as well..
