  1. $20 for a booklet and wristband? Where did you hear that at?

    ~John

I talked to the ArtPrize folks - when you register for ArtPrize, you can purchase an upgraded package. You get a guide book and a wristband that will get you into various events/parties throughout the competition. I believe it also gets you free shuttle rides.

  2. I'm really excited for ArtPrize and just had to share a little something about the artist and venue that my company is supporting...

It's called ""The Furniture City Sets the Table for the World of Art" and it's by artist Sarah Grant and her company Sticks. Fox 17 did a little feature on the construction of the piece.

If you want to read about the construction, visit Concept Design Group - ArtPrize

And, my company is planning a scavenger hunt for employees during ArtPrize so they can get out and explore the art. I hope that other business around the area really encourage the people of Grand Rapids to take advantage of ArtPrize.

  3. Here's the latest update on the Towers construction:

A tower crane will be erected for the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion parking structure the weekend of April 21. The crane has been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration and has been coordinated with Aeromed flight services. The crane will be onsite for 18 months to assist in the construction of the parking structures and associated tower superstructures.

I can't wait to see it!

  4. That's some funny stuff. I was at the Towers building last week, and couldn't figure out how to get inside. Ended up taking the crosswalk over Michigan.

If you do need to get to the Towers building for an appointment, they did make a nice parking lot for patients. However, it tends to fill up quickly with folks from the construction sites.

That's another good question to ask: with all this construction, where are all the construction workers going to park? It's already a zoo down here with all of the hospital workers.

  5. Once Tower 2 is built, the people in the existing Towers building will move into it and then the building can be torn down making way for the connector piece and Tower 1

As someone who works in the Towers building, I will be looking forward to moving to the new building. However, the construction is getting a little crazy down here. With the DeVos Children's Hospital construction starting across the street in the near future, the Van Andel updates, the Cancer Pavilion to the east and other medical building to the west, it's a bit much.

I'm still wondering how I'm going to get out of the building once everything really begins....AeroMed from the rooftop? :)
