  1. Nice Work. Looking at that satelite image, there is very little surface parking around the CBD. The designs could be upgraded but at least that area's desnity is even more improved.
  2. This is a really good idea. People flock to parkspace. The bulding will take some time to develop (and the demand for the buidling has to be higer) but there could be a lot of growth around the park. Look at what Lake Eola has become. The Waverly was built in what 1999? In 10 years... look at the growth over there!

    55 West

Not to stray too far off topic but- check out wikipedia. They have a bunch of pictures of brutalist structures. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brutalism Im a fan.
  4. When I read the name Cristal, I thought it was a new tower going somewhere around Paramore. Go figure.

    The VUE

It's amazing to me that the Vue hasn't sold any units in six months. Look at those pictures. The building is looking beautiful and I don't think you could ask for a better day. Those pictures should be on the Vue brochure. Nice Job
  6. Ajax doesn't have that kind of money. MLS would be awesome here. I would go to every game. Soccer specific stadiums look great aswell. Downtown Orlando definately needs more sports venues. I mean, we do have that hole Tinker field but isn't it supposed to be torn down with the Citrus Bowl renovation?
  7. I would love to see the Marlins here. I hope these renovations make it incredible cause we are stuck with it either way. I just have a feeling Im going to walk into the stadium in a few years and say "This is it?".
  8. The Citrus Bowl is guarenteed 3 games a year. I know it can be used as a soccer stadium. Thats not the point. We are putting lipstick on an ugly pig... for a few preseason NFL games, 3 college games and maybe a nuetral site college game once every few years. When UCF leaves there is no justification for pumping anymore money into it. An SSS, is just a recomendation for what we SHOULD have done with the money. I love everything about he PAC and the Events Center and the Citrus Bowl renovation is what screws it up.
  9. What a waste. We are never going to get a NFL team in Orlando. So the whole pipe dream of us refurbishing the Citrus Bowl is completely pointless to me. I might be in the minority here, but I love the MLS. Soccer specific stadiums (SSS) are beautiful and if Orlando had a SSS downtown it would add a nice, European dynamic. For 175 million dollars we could have built the nicest SSS in the country and lured expansion team here. I just looked up SSS's (haha) on wikipedia and only one of the new stadiums in the MLS cost more than 175 million (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soccer-specific_stadium). The MLS in Orlando works. The MLS season is mostly during the NBA offseason so they wouldn't have to compete with the Magic. I just feel like we wasted a lot of money on a venue that is old and only hosts 3 games a year. We could still get a team but they'd have to play in the craphole citrus bowl with new and improved windows.
  10. I was just looking at designs for the Beijing games in 2008. The stadium is pretty crazy. I agree with the international desing competition. You've sold me on the more modern idea... Link to Beijing Stadium
  11. I guess classical wasn't the right word. My point is, when I drive down the 408 in 5 years, I dont want to see that. There is nothing around the Citrus Bowl and there won't be for a while. So that design would stick out like a sore thumb. I completely agree with Orlando coming of age in the 20th Century how we should show it. But if we are looking for something modern and cutting edge we can do way better than that. IMO, an older looking facade would be an interesting fit for that side of town.
  12. I'm not really a fan of that stadium. It looks like a big colored pill. I'm a fan of the more classic stadiums like Soldier field in Chicago. They need to renovate everything on the inside of the Citrus Bowl and give it an awesome facade. There isn't really a concorse either. It's really, really ghetto. We probably need to work on that too.
