They did really well. Finished 1 1/2 game out of first place, but unfortunatly for the size of the league, that meant they would miss the playoffs. But it was still a very big success for the park. They drew in over 200,000 people, a record for the league in an inagural season, and topped 4200 people a game. They also won 57 games, which was also a record for an inagural team. They sent 7 players to the leagues all-star game, recieved the award for best organization of the year (east division), and one of thier pitchers, Tony Casoli, won the best pitcher award. I think and I hope that this being an independent league, the owner was trying to gauge the market and see if he can maybe pull in a minor league class A team. I definatly think that it can, I'm not completly sure, but I don't think other minor league teams in Michigan pull off those kinds of numbers other than the West Michigan White Caps.

In the 15 years I have lived here it has only frozen completly (that is measured from the shore out to Power Island) 2 or 3 times. It is not recommended to walk on it.

First to answer dtowns question, the developer wouldn't say to much to the Record-Eagle I guess (probebly still pissed off from the election) but he was willing to lease them to either the city or county. MJLO, I like to keep it going, let the downstaters know whats happening up here and such. How about this. The first snow of the year. I hope its gone by this afternoon.

For those of you with Google Earth, I thought you might like to know that Flint is now covered by the nicer, high-res satelitte pictures that allow you to go in close. Finally.

Good news about Federated, IMO. Did you real the article. I think he's trying to stick it the city commision and unfortunatly for them, there may be nothing they can do about it this time around. He won't be using city money, there will be less public parking, but the building will be the same size. I love it.

It's an older picture. That is where the parking deck and another four story building went up. you can sort of see it in this picture, not the parking deck, but the building in the middle on the right.

It's actually gone now, torn down last summer. I don't really know if it had a name, but it was a coal-fired power plant run by Traverse City Light and Power. Cool pictures though. The second one of the Grand Traverse Resort is pretty neat. I always forget just how big the place is, not just the tower, but all the condo's and other hotel rooms that are connected to it. I really liked the third pic.

Well, dammit, now I just don't remember. Either way, I remember seeing somewhere that the bank had bought the land and that is why Kinnys moved. I don't remember know though. Second part: No, not that I know of. It seems like it would be but they don't have a presence at all in Traverse City, just farther north. It seems like an awfully big building just for a branch office and I can't imagine that their HQ in Harbor Springs is even close to that big.

It wasn't empty. As far as I could tell, they did pretty good business. They moved to another location and I'm pretty sure that the bank gave them a fair amount of money for the space that enabled them to move and expand.

I've never heard of it and don't know how long it has been a bank, but I know that it only has a few branch's and they are all in the Petoskey-Harbor Springs area.

All right, I just looked at the Record-Eagle and they have it as the First Community Bank of Harbor Springs.

Oh how I hate Ohio State. Just playin', not that I actually like OSU. To each his own though. BTW: Long shot, and I'm not watching right now so I'll make a prediction MSU 28 - UM 17

I think it's called, well, I don't remember at all. It's the same one I mentioned on here a couple of weeks or a month ago. It will be right across the street from the Post Office downtown and close to the bars on Union St, i.e. Union Street Station, Dillangers and Bootleggers. The bank is based out of Harbor Springs and this will be something like it's forth or fifth branch. jdkacz: was it really May? I knew they were taking forever, it's still not completly done, but I didn't realize it was going up in May. Kinda sad for someone who drove by it every single day.

It's been a long time since I threw up any pictures on here so, while waiting to go to court (only as a witness, I'm an angel ) I decided to take some. Some are from my car unfortunatly, lack of parking nearby and only 20 minutes to do this in. So here you go, enjoy. Just so you know, there are some new buildings and building construction in these. First up, the bay. It was pretty cool today. I would say 4-5 foot waves. Next a shot from the boat launch area towards downtown. The next three are of a building that was put up over the summer. Its the new headquarter of Plante-Moran, don't ask, I don't know who they are or what they do. 3 story with a parking garage on the east side and back of the building. This next one is some sort of addition the county added on to a church that is next door to the courthouse. I think it will house new courtrooms and things of that nature. To me, it looks kind of out place, but it also looks pretty cool. I don't know about it yet. Some more of the courthouse. One while I was going to park and one from on top of the parking deck. Some more from on top of the deck. Look at the first one, you can see a crane off to the west. Oooh, fun. A couple from my neighborhood. Look at those fall colors. Oh, a little early. The rest I just took driving around waiting. AT&T Building, sort of Some condo's next to the McDonalds on Munson Ave, for those who are familiar with the area. Alley shot Looking down State St. towards the Park Place. City Centre Building (there spelling) A construction site of a new bank building being put up at State and Union. It will only be 3 stories. Looking north down Park St. again towards the Park Place.

Yes, I do. Right now the only was to get through town is through downtown or down South Airport. A lot of people drive through this city in the summer with no intention of stopping, they are going either farther north or south. A bybass, which is why they wanted to build the bridge in the first place, would be a great help, imo, to aleviate some of the traffic problems in the summer.

    Traverse City

If you're talking about Hammond Rd, then yes, they did want to build a bridge there.
  22. Ka3kab

    Traverse City

Nothing like South Airport or Division/Front/Munson (also known as US 31), but it is a sort of bypass to go around town. The unfortunate part about it is that it either dumps you out at Hammond Rd., which goes nowhere, or you have to get on South Airport and deal with that mess, but it is easier than going through downtown.
  23. Ka3kab

    Traverse City

Nothing new that I know of or have seen. 3 Mile Rd. is open, if you care. I don't know if you noticed while you were here this summer that it was closed. They finally opened it yesterday, after only five months. All they did was widen the damn thing from 2 to 5 lanes. But hey, it's open and there are no more people driving through my neighborhood at 45 mph. No, I did not go take pictures. It has rained for 2 weeks solid up here it seems like.

That's cool. I just recently started to play with that and have made a building. I'll try to throw that up here, but I don't really know how.
