I know where you mean, but I'm not sure what it is either. The development in South County is really alarming. Rt. 138 in Richmond is getting really bad, they put a Dunkin Dounts in Usquepaug, and a new Brooks w/ a traffic light closer to the highway. The rural areas and small businesses are what I love about South County. Now, the area seems to be the next Smithfield/Warwick/Seekonk.

The plan is for a large retail center. They're going to use all of that land behind the Home Depot as well. From what I've heard, they're planning a WalMart Supercenter, Sam's Club, office supply store, Panera Bread, movie theater, and two restaurants. Poor wording on my part Mikey, sorry about that. What I meant was that I'd just like to see some more of these companies locate in the city. I remember that, Pfizer looking at Providence. Damn, that would have been nice. Good point about Almond. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I think this area is far better off without those two. Buddy only cared about himself, and Almond only cared about how to screw Buddy.

A lot of these major suburban developments make me sad, and that's coming from a guy who lives in the suburbs. We have a lot of major companies in the area, they ought to be in the city. Instead, we have the possibility of Brooks bringing even more traffic to route 2, and Fidelity destroying beautiful countryside. Another development that irks me is Cambio's Centre of New England project in Coventry. They're clearing out all those acres just to replicate everything that's already on route 2. Oh, and we still have Quonset sitting there largely undeveloped, and a Warwick Station district where nothing is happening. Isn't it funny how the two spots where large-scale suburban projects should be taking place are being ignored by developers (or at least seem to be)?
