why do i get the feeling the 2 of your are related...
Strangely, we're not: I know Jen but she does not know me. Well, she DOES know me, but she doesn't KNOW that she knows me... Y'know????

do i detect sarcasm?
Yikes! No!
My advanced years must make me seem sarcastic even though I am being sincere. *Sigh*.

Thanks, Jen. Your service to the City is invaluable!

Has anyone been able to find the Draft Comp. Plan on the Providence Tomorrow website? I was forwarded an e-mail saying there was a link on the webpage, but much digging yielded nothing.
Is anyone planning (pardon the pun) on going to the City Plan Commission meeting tonight? they are discussing the draft, but the agenda says that the public won't be allowed to comment.

Can I just say that I have fallen in love with Filomena Lupo. I have no idea who she is but she is SO nice, and she took a week of vacation from work just to go to the charrettes. She got a nice round of a place at one of the sessions. Love her!
That's the first time I've ever heard anyone say THAT.....

I don't understand what the width of the street should have to do with anything. Wayland certainly has the busline capacity, if only RIPTA could afford to run more frequent service.
What are talking about here? I'm thinking that the highest a building should be in Wayland Square is 3-4 stories. What is your thinking? Where will you put all of the new residents' cars?
Wayland Ave. and its surrounding streets don't have the capacity to handle additional traffic. Remember, there are new residential projects being constructed at the Gibbs site and down in Richmond Square. It remains to be seen what their impact on the Square will be.
And I think we know that we cannot count on RIPTA to add anything, sadly.

I'm all for density, as long as it is in the appropriate place. How to tell what is "appropriate"? Is there a bus line along the street? Is the street wide enough to handle XXX additional people living on it? Based on this criteria, Wayland Square would not be the place for more density whilst Elmwood Ave. could handle more.

I did, there weren't any matches.
Sorry, I've used "coleslaw" for my handle in other web forums for years. I can change it if you're feeling uncomfortable, Jen.

OK is it just me??? Given all of the kick-offs and meetings that the City has had over the past 3 years about neighborhood plans and zoning that ended up going nowhere, do we really think that this is actually going to happen?
I have been to too many meetings and workshops that either evaporated or resulted in a product that people felt did not adequately reflect their hopes for a better City.
I hate to sound jaded, but I'm tired of watching hundreds of volunteer hours spent for naught.
Thinking about moving to Providence?

My taxes actually went down, strangely. My bank pays them and charges me monthly, along with my mortgage payment: I'm paying about $20 less per month now.
I'll never understand this place.
