  1. My taxes actually went down, strangely. My bank pays them and charges me monthly, along with my mortgage payment: I'm paying about $20 less per month now. I'll never understand this place.
  2. Strangely, we're not: I know Jen but she does not know me. Well, she DOES know me, but she doesn't KNOW that she knows me... Y'know????
  3. Thanks, Jen. Your service to the City is invaluable!
  4. Has anyone been able to find the Draft Comp. Plan on the Providence Tomorrow website? I was forwarded an e-mail saying there was a link on the webpage, but much digging yielded nothing. Is anyone planning (pardon the pun) on going to the City Plan Commission meeting tonight? they are discussing the draft, but the agenda says that the public won't be allowed to comment.
  5. That's the first time I've ever heard anyone say THAT.....
  6. What are talking about here? I'm thinking that the highest a building should be in Wayland Square is 3-4 stories. What is your thinking? Where will you put all of the new residents' cars? Wayland Ave. and its surrounding streets don't have the capacity to handle additional traffic. Remember, there are new residential projects being constructed at the Gibbs site and down in Richmond Square. It remains to be seen what their impact on the Square will be. And I think we know that we cannot count on RIPTA to add anything, sadly.
  7. I'm all for density, as long as it is in the appropriate place. How to tell what is "appropriate"? Is there a bus line along the street? Is the street wide enough to handle XXX additional people living on it? Based on this criteria, Wayland Square would not be the place for more density whilst Elmwood Ave. could handle more.
  8. Sorry, I've used "coleslaw" for my handle in other web forums for years. I can change it if you're feeling uncomfortable, Jen.
  9. OK is it just me??? Given all of the kick-offs and meetings that the City has had over the past 3 years about neighborhood plans and zoning that ended up going nowhere, do we really think that this is actually going to happen? I have been to too many meetings and workshops that either evaporated or resulted in a product that people felt did not adequately reflect their hopes for a better City. I hate to sound jaded, but I'm tired of watching hundreds of volunteer hours spent for naught.
