Looks like February numbers are out. Passenger count continues to be higher compared to February 2023, but cargo seems to be leveling off.

This article came up in my news feed today and it's the first time I've seen a mention of a potential groundbreaking....in this case it says late spring!

Done. Thanks for sharing
Also done and I really can't figure out why anyone would oppose this.

I know this isn't RIC....but it is our competition. They ended up with around 4.5 million passengers last year and they are certainly being aggressive in their attempts to fuel further growth. I hope RIC is taking notice.

I 100% agree with you!!
Sorry to be negative... I just wish we would combine our security checkpoints and keep them open til the last flight leaves.

Just a little complaint about RIC...which I am a strong supporter of. That said, I think it's ridiculous that TSA closes at 8p and my husband's flight was scheduled to board at 10:15 and he arrived too late (9pm) so was turned away and couldn't fly out tonight. I understand they have regular hours, but Raleigh keeps TSA open until the last flight departs.

What?! How does this even happen?! RIC doesn’t need any discouragement of people coming to park their vehicles safely and catching a flight at the airport. Disappointing.

That's awful and I had no idea. I'm a big fan of RIC and I find their response to be very unsatisfactory...so I can imagine this isn't going to play well to sway those who aren't. I just don't understand how it could be that easy to get away with that kind of theft. There must be a huge lack of security. Wouldn't there be cameras in and out? I'd be curious to know if there are similar issues at other airports like ORF or Reagan. Wouldn't there be footage of someone leaving with the car?? My husband flies out Monday but I think I'll take him myself instead of him leaving his car.

Typically with condo HOAs "less than half" are allowed to be rentals, so I believe CS has 90 units, 44 max could be rentals (not all 90 are yet completed though).
With a new place they might have it set at "less than 1/3" to keep the community "nicer" at least until all the units are sold. Once people move in and run the HOA themselves they can change the limit to whatever they want.
Yeah, I am pretty sure at this point the rental cap was somewhere close to 10%

It's not surprising...but there is a rental cap. I took clients to look at one of the units there and only so many can be rented per the HOA. I can't remember the exact number, but if memory serves the number had already been reached and no others would be allowed to rent the units out. I really liked the development, as did my clients...but they ended up in a townhouse in Church Hill with no HOA and a killer location.

According to the architect website, it's scheduled to be completed in 2026

Maybe it was posted before, but it has some renderings of the interior I hadn't seen before.

Norfolk airport numbers for November are out.
Seems very possible that RIC can best these figures. When will they be released? Also, I found it interesting that cargo traffic has fallen off so much for Norfolk while it has been increasing at RIC.

The project from Daniil Kleyman on the corner of Forest Hill and Prince George near Little Nickel has begun demolition of the former Bank of America building. Fencing went up Monday and demo began yesterday. Hopefully, this will start rising out of the ground before the end of the year.

Interesting - makes me wonder if they're still doing hazardous material abatement at this point (or resuming it if it had been stopped) or is this a harbinger of actual demo?
It's going to be actual demo. My understanding is the wall along 10th Street has to stay for support purposes but will be taken down close to street level.

We're at the airport now, flying to Boston today. It is pretty busy and all the restaurants are mostly full. Looks like a lot of people departing and arriving. The Delta line was very long for what we typically see... fortunately we didn't check a bag.

I didn't get pics because I was driving....but earlier this evening I saw a crew standing by a tractor trailer on 2nd St near The War Memorial with parts that looked like they are for a crane. So it definitely seems like the 2nd tower crane should be up in a few days. I know the base has been there a bit now.

Work has resumed on the Fouchee Mews project. The Main Street side has been finished for months. The Cary Street side, which had building pads built up on the soil, had become overgrown with weeds and flattened through erosion.
The pads are defined again and block is rising on the building in the center of the block.
Very happy to see movement here again but I’m not too thrilled with the townhomes. They look really nice but are built on slabs. A foundation would have made them look like a million dollars. They look like $250k instead.
I'm so glad you pointed this out. There has been something I really felt was off about these and I couldn't quite figure out what was bothering me, but you nailed it. I can appreciate trying to blend in and be respectful of the surroundings, but this is why I am often not in favor of that approach...it ends up looking like a cheap reproduction and to me ends up detracting from its neighbors instead of complementing them.

So having read the article and the comments, it seems like one of the major problems is that they don't market themselves AT ALL. Apparently outside of "aviation geeks" (like us!) and a few others who follow these sorts of things, folks literally don't know the airline even exists, much less where it flies.
Without looking at (or having any real understanding of) airline statistics, it would seem that RVA/RIC is more than pulling its weight in being an uber-successful market for Breeze - at least from the standpoint of putting fannies in seats. Perhaps with proper marketing, we could do even better! At least for now, no one can say "no one flies Breeze in/out of Richmond".
We are flying home this morning from Hartford BDL to RIC on Breeze and the flight is pretty full. Granted, it is a Breeze Thru to Phoenix. My husband is up here every other week for work and the flight is always pretty full. When we flew up Monday, it seemed the plane was mostly full of people from RIC. We did notice some people deplane from Phoenix but hard to say how full the plane would have been.
One other observation...BDL is a much busier airport than RIC and that surprised me. Looking at their stats I believe they'll serve about 7 million passengers this year. They compete with Logan, but I guess we have all the DC metro airports and Norfolk to contend with. Still, to me it seems if BDL can do 7 million then we should be able to also. We just need more service from carriers....oh and more amenities, shops in the airport that have longer hours...and consolidate the security lines.

That still not ridiculously tall...somewhere maybe about 330ft, but would certainly make an impression!

VCU Developments

Well, there was an issue of contaminated ground water. There were old oil tanks and a sump pump that had been in use at some point. My understanding is that when the city cut power, the sump pump wasn't draining anymore and when vandals cut the lines for the tanks...well you get the idea. I know some people involved and the place was a mess and incredibly scary. People had been living there for a good while in some pretty deplorable conditions. Anyway, the city had to remedy the ground water issue before more demo can take place, but I think it's been resolved....
