  1. Looks like ArtPrize is starting to show up nationally. I found this article on FoxNews.com. They do a good job of briefly describing what ArtPrize is and what a big deal it will be. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,544960,00.html
  2. You won't feel that thing move even 1". The amount of concrete and rebar (not sure how to spell that) that went into that building is simply unreal. I have a bunch of pictures of it somewhere at work that I'll post tomorrow. The building is located in Jamestown Township and I assessed its partial construction state last December. They are taking out the building permits in phases, and their total is nearing $2.5 million or so... They have over $500,000 just in the concrete foundation used to support the upper level.
  3. It's hard to see downtown GR from Byron Rd., but there may be a point between 16th and 8th (driving east) when you may see it if you don't blink. You can get great views of Hudsonville, Georgetown Twp, GVSU Allendale, and even the Campbell generating plant at Port Sheldon all from Byron Rd. I'm not sure about Wilson... Basically any of the roads through the middle of Jamestown Twp have excellent views of all directions. On a cold, clear winter night, I can see the brightly lit slopes of Bittersweet Ski Resort off M-89 in Otsego...
  4. That particular view is from a gravel pit near "downtown" Jamestown. It's typically gated/locked, so not easy to get in. However, you can still get many great views from anywhere on 8th Ave. or 16th Ave. Easiest way to get there is to take M6 west to the 8th Ave. exit, go south on 8th until you get to Perry St. (it's a few miles), then turn around and head back north on 8th. There are a few different places where the view is quite amazing. 16th Ave. runs parallel to 8th, 1 mile to the west. Best viewing is between Riley St. and Byron Rd., also heading north. There are several beautiful homes on the top of the hill that all have quite a view.
  5. Here's a picture of downtown GR as seen from the highest point in Ottawa County (Jamestown Township). I will try to get back up there this spring with a camera that has better zoom, but it's still a good view nonetheless.
  6. Meijer paid $208,000 per acre for their land in Jamestown. They bought all 11 available lots in the Jamestown Commerce Center at 32nd Ave. & Quincy, just south of I-196.
  7. Meijer finally officially secured the land in Jamestown Township last week. They are putting up yet another new style of store on the site. I only have huge renderings of it and I don't think I can shrink them to scan onto here. The store is going to be 2 shades of brown (lighter & darker), with the same type of glass entry-ways, except the glass is going to be a dark tint versus the blueish tint of the other new stores. The most noticable difference is the alternating heights of different sections of the facade. It goes in a higher-lower alternating pattern all the way across the front. I am also happy that it doesn't have the Meijer sign positioned so that the 2 dots of the "i" and the "j" stick above the roofline of the building....that's so strange looking. They expect to break ground soon and have it done within a year. Rumor is they're having some trouble with the State DEQ.
  8. A Detroit developer wants to build a multi-screen movie theater on Ottawa between Oakes & Cherry... It's currently a parking lot. http://www.wzzm13.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=52739
  9. Sorry about the bad links...it was a LONG day and I was trying to do 20 things at once. I got the drawings from an inside source who works for WGVU. They are doing a lot of shifting around inside of the building as well and the TV station admin offices are being moved. I am trying my hardest to get more outside renderings.
  10. Hey guys. First time posting on here. Here are a couple of floorplans for the new building. I know these don't show anything of the outside, but someone here may appreciate them. They are very large, so I just have links to view them using IE rather than putting them in the forum. http://www.carefreecompservices.com/images/FirstFlrfull.jpg http://www.carefreecompservices.com/images/2ndFloorzoom.jpg http://www.carefreecompservices.com/images/3rdflr.jpg
