  1. What kinda car do you drive? Those lights look very Xeonish...

I didn't take the picture

However, my friend did and I have no idea what car he was driving. Sorry PBJ.

Here's my view THURSDAY night. i was in the lot below walking back from crush/grand woods and noticed the same thing.

Wow, they really should get that thing fixed.

  2. lol wasn't that kinda the point? back when I was an early teen, my friends and I used to spend hours in there, we'd play the maze, and then we'd play games in there. and of course all you could eat pizza and pop!

Oh, I guess the point of the maze was to get lost... It was always a good time. I remember a lot of school field trips, as well as church and Girl Scout outings there.

I think now it's home to the Great Lakes Racers or something like that...my friends dad has a chiropractic office down the street from it and I remember him saying something about them racing RC cars in there.

  3. Amazing indeed!

Since there are two counters, one in the main forum and one in the coffee house - if you're in the coffee house are you being counted twice?

For example, if I was in the coffee house, would I be counted in the main forum and the coffee house, or just the coffee house?

Reasoning...if this is the way it works there could be more people online than what we're counting from the main forum.

  4. Looks like, according to the city commission upcoming agenda, the restaurant going into the building on the sw corner of Louis and Ottawa is going to be owned by Banana Joe's. Not sure if this is the name of the establishment, but they are out of the Kalamazoo area.

    Banana Joe's party bus?

  5. And apartments. :)

Anyone else been up to the roof of Plaza Towers? My company used to provide the cable Internet access to Plaza Towers before Comcast swooped in and bought out the cable company that used to do the CATV there.

Got to see some pretty neat things inside that giant building. :) The view from the roof and some of the upper floor condos is breathtaking.

Not the roof of Plaza Towers, however once I was strapped into a harness on the roof of the AGP...talk about terrifying!!

  6. BBP, I just checked you out on GRNow's website and submitted my rating.

Does anyone else use the reviews and ratings on GRNow? I use it all the time, its fun to write reviews on there of the places I've tried, I hope someone finds them helpful! With the restaurant review thread, collectively there are a lot of restaurant experiences here!

  7. I live halfway between both and always go to the one at Knapp's Corner. It's amazing the difference in quality and upkeep between the two stores. I have to say Meijer isn't exactly consistent keeping all stores uniform in the area. Compare the Cascade and Knapp's Corner Stores to the Plainfield and 28th & Kalamazoo locations.

Don't forget about the 54th and Clyde Park location! EWW!

  8. You're right. Where the old Handy Andy was has never had a long term tenant. The old Meijer offices near the mall is underutilized by a church. The old movie theater has never been redeveloped (now K&M Dodge is looking at the property to expand their used car lot). Witmark has not had a tenant in close to ten years. The old laundromat in front of D&W is vacant again (Bargain Books closed about a month ago). The Rent-a-Center next to D&W is vacant again. The Hot-n-Now near Jupiter has been vacant for over 10 years. The old Taco Bell is now closed since they've opened two new ones in the area (near I-96 and on the Beltline). The old 4 Star Gas Station has been closed for about 10 years. The lot where the old Fire Barn was is vacant. The area is vacant all over.

It's interesting that the stretch between 96 and 5 mile is horribly stagnant. The other end near the Beltline is going crazy with new development.

The area is ripe for redevelopment.

To add to all of this the D&W is closing, so I'm sure that will be vacant for a while as well.

  9. I emailed Alumen8 to investigate, here's what I got :

Alumen8 is a gathering of innovative thinkers, wanting to encourage innovation...but it is really the brainchild of Bob Kullgren (which you already know if you've been to the site!). He's an interesting person, working on interesting things...and it's all about helping people get out of the box and make a positive contribution.
