  1. This can't go in Century Farms, because there is not a big chunk of land left. Across I-24 is the new Mill Ridge Park. South of Century Farms is already impossible because there are already several subdivisions and apartments (built and under construction)

Google Maps is behind in this area

The Vanderbilt Tower, Graduate Hotel, and Hampton Inn are not commercial residence or office buildings. The developers know they can't charge top dollar to people or businesses with brick buildings. Those guys know what their big money customers want. And it ain't brick buildings. When businesses or people show their clients or family members where they live and work, they want them to think they are big time. Brick ain't big time. The funny thing is if Nashville was full of old timey brick buildings there would be complaints about it nonstop.

333 11th Avenue South is an example where some didn't like a brick building being allowed to be built in the middle of a modern environment. The term 'hideous' was used

  3. What if they are NOT trying to be a Disney or Six Flags? How about a Beech Bend Park or Holiday World concept where it starts small and grows? It doesn't have to be a rival to Cedar Point on opening day

Delta SkyClub in B Concourse will resume construction later this summer, per the check-in agent.  It is still planned to be the largest non-hub club in the system.  He has been told that BNA will eventually become a focus city again at some point once Delta schedules ramp up.  Said something like, we can’t have a club this big without the flights to support it.

This is consistent with what I've heard, but still thinking it will be a bit later than a summer start. That SkyClub is being built to cater to the high end clients traveling through BNA. Delta wants their business. Period. And BNA is the reliever for ATL, thus another reason, so I'm told

There have been rumors for years about Nashville being a focus city and a flight to Europe, etc. Delta is probably just trying to block the competition

I wasn't initially a huge fan of our crest, but new/unique can often be a little off-putting for me at least. It's really grown on me since it was initially unveiled, and now I think it's one of my top favorite crests among the whole league alongside Austin and Chicago.

I think most of these crests range between fine and pretty good with the main exception being New England which looks like it belongs in a time capsule, but I'm curious for those of you who don't like our crest, which of these might you prefer?

I could see being into the Montreal crest if we were going to go the more abstract route.

I think DC, Dallas, Seattle, and both LA clubs all have a nice comic book effect that doesn't push it too far into the cartoonish end of the spectrum.

Cincinnati, Houston, and Toronto all created solid, classic sports/baseball emblems that work well I think.

I like Portland and Salt Lake for their creative simplicity and I like Miami and Philly for their aesthetics and simplicity.

At the end of the day I think I was mostly just put off by our color scheme when initially evaluating the Nashville SC logo, which is slightly too abrasive of a yellow for my taste and with a blue hue that hews a little too close to purple, as well. All in all, though, I think we did really well in the logo department, especially with the sound waves/negative space N as others have noted, but even the vintage mic shape works better in my opinion the more used to it I get and I hope some of y'all experience a similar evolution.

Agree 100%. I immediately recognized the microphone shape and the sound waves, the very first second I saw the crest.

It says Music City, without saying it!

Long time lurker and first time poster here. Had to comment on this one just to submit how jealous I am of this Miami project. Something like this in Nashville would be absolutely stunning.

Nashville needs more eye popping towers like this!

Welcome to the forum! And please feel free to stop by our monthly meeting the first Saturday of the each month, now back at the downtown central library and online through Zoom!

Crazy to think that the Broadwest office tower started around the same time as this did.

But please remember government buildings - especially a court house - has building standards that are about 5x more strict than a BroadWest office tower. It's actually impressive they are progressing this quickly! This doesn't compare to other construction on any level

Wait, so are the rooftop mechanical "barns" going to remain visible through the facade? Please tell me it's just not finished yet...

Looks......like..... When will the horses arrive?

I'm guessing they left out the mechanical barns in the original renderings

I do agree that there's such a cult following of Buc-ees that this monstrosity will siphon business away from existing gas stations as far west as Cookeville and as far east as Harriman, but it will be particularly devastating for gas stations in Crossville.  I think Pilot is probably safe since its Crossville store has a Wendy's and Cinnabon, plus it's also a truck stop which Buc-ees isn't.  But the new Speedway that just opened, and offers nothing special, will probably suffer.

Speaking for Cookeville, I hope this will spur Pilot to do something about its ridiculously cramped and poorly placed store in Cookeville.  They would be wise to build a snazzy new travel center at the newly built Tennessee Avenue exit (3rd picture).  Here's the current Pilot in Cookeville, built in 1985 when there was nothing else around it except KFC, and now which has zero room to expand and creates massive traffic jams.

That Cinnabon (and Wendy's) is a popular place for me, lol, and I think I'm a regular customer at that Sam's Gas! Agree on the Pilot - that destroys traffic there

As for the other Crossville gas stations and the impact, there are a few, like the Speedway, that will be impacted. But with the volume of I-40, I think it will be a welcome relief when it opens

If I am driving on the way to some place I am sure not going to stop and buy a grill. Also with 120 gas pumps, the traffic getting in and out will be a pain. I am a get my ass in and out in under 4 minutes including the bathroom break, so these types of places are not my style.

When I drive such as my upcoming NY drive it will be 15 hours on the road max. All I do is stop to pee, gas up and grab food on the fly. Nothing else. My record is from Rapid City SD in 23 hours back to Nashville in one drive. I have my trips planned out and I have my stops planned out. Roadside attractions like these never appealed to me. The closest thing I ever did was Wall Drug Store in SD and that is a place that if you have seen it once you dont have to go back.

Call me me a stick in the mud, but a place like this has no appeal to me from outward appearances. Sort of like Shake Shack... I tried it and dint like it. Way too much hype! When you get older you have seen too much stuff to know the real thing from all the kid stuff crap like this. Now What-A-Burger was different for me. I liked the food, the service, the price. The have been around for years. I used to like McDonalds when I was a kid but now their food is crap. They have changed the ingredients to items that are banned in Europe as have many fast food chains including What A Burger. I do not eat a lot of fast food burgers any longer for that reason. I have gotten way off track, but this explains my mind set. I am very travel focused when I go somewhere and a meticulous planner, down to if I want to pay tolls or not.

Then Buc-ees should offer the 4 minutes stop for gas and restroom break. As others have pointed out, the quality restrooms are a huge draw. How fast can one exit I-40 and return remains to be seen, but it should be quick

But you can also get a meal there (or to go) which saves you an additional stop during your trip

And I wonder what it will do to the existing gas stations in Crossville.  It will definitely help the sales tax receipts for Crossville--which could really use the economic boost--but I'm betting it's going to really hurt some of the existing gas stations along the interstate.  It's like opening up a dozen gas stations at the same time in the same place.

We'll have to wait to see what the gas prices are in comparison, but it will absolutely impact everything from Cookeville to Harriman, and beyond. Pilot should take a pretty big hit. And it will impact all restaurants and more, as well. I'm thinking all 3 Cracker Barrels to Interstate Dr. It will be a while before it's open and by then the I-40 volume should be at a level where it will be a welcome relief to have!

The superstores have everything from food seasonings to home decor. Oh yeah, and food, did I mention they have food? lol

    So... it's a truck stop?

Buc-ees is as much of a destination as IKEA. Buc-ees is like comparing the Fifth and Broadway Assembly Food Hall to an I-90 oasis

Negative, not a truck stop. It's a 53,400 sq ft 'convenience' store that has 175 employees! That is bigger than almost all grocery stores!
