  1. I figure a few tricks with Photoshop is a heck of a lot cheaper and less time consuming than setting up a model railroad.
  2. My first encounter with Jones Gap was back in 1980. There had been a similar rock slide, and my foolish friends and I climbed to the top of it. I hate hearing about the damage, but it is a natural occurance, and eventually the park will recover. As for the symphony, I've had the privilege of performing with the symphony under Tzchivel. He tends to take tempos (tempi?) very quickly, which lends a sense of urgency and excitement to just about every piece he conducts. However, during rehearsals he is almost unintelligible. Still, he's a very cool dude. And finally (since this is a photo thread), I've been playing with tilt-shift effects in Photoshop. Below is my attempt with the Reedy Bridges:
  3. Spotted this one on the Flickr Greenville group - nice!
  4. Beginning of the Scottish Parade: I just like the reflection of the people in the drum here:
  5. OK, RT, here's what I've found on CS2's HDR... There is an automated process called, "Merge to HDR." When I tried this with my WB bracketed photos, I got the message that there was not enough dynamic range in the images to create an HDR image. Photomatix, on the other hand, had no problem with it and produced the images you've seen. I guess I'll need to either switch to AE bracketing or use Photomatix for that purpose. Here's a shack in Wellford done in HDR with Photomatix. Can't argue with the results, and the program is easy to use. Photoshop CS2 still has some nice improvements of CS, so it's still worth it from that standpoint.
  6. Photoshop has arrived - I'll let you know how the HDR on it works. In the meantime, here's this non-HDR shot...
  7. Well, when I can get the office to buy it at an educator's discount, it's not so bad.
  8. Bracketed WB deviation. I didn't have a good tripod with me for manual settings. I took a bunch of WB bracketed shots over the weekend, but just got the Photomatix yesterday. I also have the newest version of Photoshop CS on the way, so I'll play with that when it comes in.
  9. This was a previously-posted photo, now redone with HDR...
  10. Hmm, I just noticed that my Flickr account has 666 pictures in it, and tomorrow is 6-6-06. Think my cameras will survive?
  11. Thanks, GS. I'm strictly amateur with my photography. I wouldn't know an f-stop from a hole in the ground.
  12. I'm sure there is poison ivy in here somewhere, but it, like the house, is obscured by kudzu...
  13. Thanks, all. It's hard to take a shot like that and avoid wrecking the car.
  14. I-85 Morning, through a dirty windshield
  15. Sorry for the double-post today, but the light was really nice this morning...
  16. Thanks. I was actually trying to get some shots of the old spring house at Chick Springs. There were No Tresspassing signs everywhere, even on the spring house itself. Didn't make for a very appealing photograph, so I started exploring Taylors. On second thought, maybe an abandoned textile ill isn't that appealing, either. Since this was taken in the harsh light of mid-day, I did some color enhancement with Photoshop.
  17. Abandoned Southern Bleachery in Taylors...
  18. I haven't contributed in quite awhile. Here's one taken at the Greek Festival last weekend...
  19. I like your shot better, NT. That's a neat, historic park - once called "City Park" because it was THE park in town. It's looking a bit ragged and run down these days.
