    Thank you RaleighRick, great pics!

I think that I will go sit in a corner and cry...what a loss!

And while I actually do like the design of the 10 story building, it's just that, a 10 story building...what a waste of prime downtown space. Oh well, there money  my dreams. Sigh!

Am I the only one remembering what was originally planned to go on this site? To me, this seems like another letdown.

    You're not alone...

I believe that originally this address was slated for a multi-use building of around 21 floors...

  3. Agree with jtmonk I do!

I personally would have preferred that they included the parking and perhaps even a small/boutique hotel...kind of spreading the cost to build around.

Slso, this looks even more shocking when you think that the 23 story Sky House apartment building was built for 60 million and just sold today for 105 million...

  4. If, and I really mean a big if here, the State of NC goes along with CSX's new idea of a big new freight-train facility in Johnston Couny, (story in today's N&O), will this be an okay, good, or very good thing for Raleigh? I remember back in the day when Fed Ex wanted to locate at RDU but got so much push back from Cary/Morrisville that Fed Ex had to reconsider and then moved to Memphis.

  5. I guess that the architect is trying to match up the brick/color of the building with the rest of the warehouse district? I'm "ok" with keeping the first floor brick but I think that the design of the SECU building would have been a better design for this area...but hey, who knows, maybe the next project in the Warehouse district will come closer? At least it's not just a square building.

  6. I think that they should either bring the Wilmington side up or move the Fayetteville side down. Either way leaving one building with two different heights makes it look odd to me...still not sure if I like it. It does remind me of the old BB&T/Capital Bank building also on Fayetteville st across from Duke Progress.
