  1. Thanks for posting that. I was very interested in that idea, and looked up the sat view via Google Earth. It's too bad our MDOT people didn't plan something like that for I-196. Linky
  2. I can only hope. The produce at Meijer is in dreadful condition versus my infrequent visits to a D&W a few miles away. I can't tell how many times I've gotten a bag of oranges home to find that they are dried out inside or overripe, lettuce that is rotting from the inside or apples that are mealy. I wonder if Meijer freezes everything or just what? I'll even make a trip to D&W for produce only and buy the rest of my stuff at Meijer if that's what it takes.
  3. Believe it or not the University of Grand Rapids was absorbed into Aquinas College in 1945. http://www.aquinas.e...ge/forties.html There are a few references to the U of GR in Google's News Archive as well - mostly about the football team.
  4. Is the lime green building part of Art Prize, or some other photographic anomaly?
  5. Speaking of Farmer's Market's - I was in Traverse City yesterday for a meeting and noticed a multi-use lot on Grandview Parkway between Union and Cass. I'm thinking the same could be done somewhere on Monroe N or elsewhere.
  6. As I read the article this morning, I wondered why the route is a 3 MI north/south route versus a 3+ mile east/west route. IANAUP (I am not an urban planner) - but would it not make sense to run this thing up Michigan out to the Beltline and west out Bridge? I just think of walking up Michigan St hill (ugh!), being able to go from De Vos Place to 2 toursity places (Zoo and FMG), Spectrum folks can take this thing to their satellite lot at Plymouth/Michigan, it hits a couple of DASH lots and would skirt the north side of GVSU. OTOH - When I looked at the current route, I thought immediately of another DASH route, versus spending 75 Million on a streetcar. Thoughts?
  7. $92'ish. I know that seems a bit spendy to some people (including me), but nowadays paying for experience is what it's all about.
  8. My wife and I just got back from our wonderful dinner at NAYA We started with a wonderful goat cheese appetizer with flatbread. I had a very fresh bibb lettuce salad with candied walnuts and fuji apples. My wife had the Misto salad, also beautifully presented and so tasty. The entree I chose was the filet mignon - which was sooooo melt in your mouth good, words do not describe. My better half had the Ahi tuna, impeccably delicious. We finished with two very unique desserts. I had a churro and chile chocolate ice cream... a rich chocolate ice cream with a hint of spicy chili (it was awesome). My wife has six small cups of tea-sorbet (six flavors) that cleaned the palette and was a great finish to a fantastic dining experience. NAYA is located on East Paris south of Cascade - in the same 'lifestyle center' as Woody's, Bonefish, etc. I highly recommend it.
