  1. It looks like they've given up entirely on the meat department, and the shelves are barren. I really hope I'm wrong, but I can't imagine the place will be open much longer.
  2. Looks like Holly Aiken's shop is moving into the Ladies' Hat store on the Hargett/Wilmington corner. good to see some more retail in this area: http://www.newraleigh.com/articles/archive...wntown-raleigh/
  3. only open until 10 now, but they plan on staying open later after being up & running for a while. This is my new favorite pizza in Raleigh.
  4. This is some of the best downtown retail news I've read in some time. A place selling a wide selection of beer in walking distance....and a butcher shop on the way on the same street. The Taz convenience store will open this Friday, and he plans on opening two more stores downtown, one being an old school butcher shop. http://www.newraleigh.com/articles/archive...-open-july-4th/
  5. I agree. Regarding Champa....I live, but don't work, downtown. I have to order over the phone when leaving work and pick up my food right before they close. The food is really good, but I'd much rather just walk over there and have dinner around 7.
  6. I thought the same thing initially... but, I think the name might fall into the "so bad it's good" category. I can't NOT laugh when I say it.
  7. I'd heard that Cody's chinese restaurant on Glenwood was closing, but I saw new signage this morning reading "Thaiphoon." Anyone know anything about this? Did they decide to stay open & revamp, focusing on the Thai side of their menu, or is this new ownership altogether?
  8. Only the N. Raleigh location closed.
  9. Newraleigh is reporting that Revolver Boutique is moving from Five Points to Glenwood South. It will be above the bridal shop at the corner of Jones St. Good to see more retail in the neighborhood. http://www.newraleigh.com/articles/archive...glenwood-south/
  10. Globe is run by the people from Bistro 607. I didn't look at a menu when I was there, but I went for a couple of drinks last Thursday. The space looks great and the staff is very friendly. There was a DJ playing some good music, but it was more of a relaxed atmosphere - no dancing.
  11. Noticed last week that Catch 22, the clothing store on S Glenwood is now open. Also, an artist has leased one of the retail units on the ground floor of The Dawson for a gallery/workspace.
  12. http://www.newsobserver.com/politics/story/724122.html The council approved 2 of the roundabouts & delayed making a decision on the one at Hillsborough & Morgan.
  13. I don't think there was ever any official announcement on this, but I'm still hoping its true.
