  1. I think this is the original proposal for 1 Glenwood.
  2. Since the North Tower is being built on top of the parking structure, I believe there is a physical limitation to this building. But 23 stories and 400'+ will be an awesome addition.
  3. I wonder if this could be a modification to the Edison project. The 12 story building would make more sense in that location than in the other know proposals.
  4. Thanks for the update Chief. I had hoped to attend today but had an unexpected change of plans. It's exciting to start hearing more about the various projects and some timetable info. The BBQ competition sounds like a great idea.
  5. That is great news. Hopefully ExpressJet's strategy of flying to cities that have no direct flights, thus no competition, from RDU will be successful. It's very exciting for RDU to add 6 new non-stop destinations.
  6. With Downtown and Glenwood South exploding with developments I don't understand why they would consider taking out lanes for traffic. How can the planners think that the current 19,000 cars a day wont grow when all these new developments are complete. I want to see H Street revitalized but taking out lanes sounds like a bad idea today. In ten years we'll be ripping it up to add more lanes.
  7. WOW. Thanks Flash. You have an incredible talent. It is so exciting to be able to visualize the entire DT areas renaissance. It's quite a dramatic change taking place downtown by 2008/2009. The addition of the Reynolds tower forces that side of downtown to stand out and be included into the overall panorama of DT Raleigh. Hopefully the N&O tower and the CAM tower will help a little bit to fill in the gap between Reynolds and Wachovia. The shot of DT from N. Raleigh may be a better angle in the future because I think the Reynolds tower will look much more contiguous with the rest of DT although from that angle the south end developments are minimized. One things for sure, in a couple of years things are going to be looking mighty nice in DT Raleigh.
  8. Awesome shots RDUAirport. Can't wait to see the steel going up on the new terminal.
  9. Welcome to UP Raleigh Kid. You may find it interesting to read the posts on this board to catch up on all the projects that you seem to be unaware of downtown. It's quite amazing actually. Where did you read that the city rejected 3 high rise projects because of regulations? I must have missed that. A few great sites to keep up with DT Raleigh development are Raleigh MSA, Raleighing, Raleigh Skyline, Raleigh Renaissance That has already happened, but our official debut will be the end of 2008.
  10. I understand what you are saying about F street, but I won't rest until old Wachovia and First Citizens buildings are gone and a new tower is built. As far as future development options go I think that is already starting to show it's hand. West of F street (Salisbury, around the convention center, along Wilmington, the blocks South of Nash Square, Hillsborough near the Reynolds tower. There are plenty of sites, both parking lots and old buildings (not historic) that are becoming ripe for redevelopment. Once the convention center is open I believe we will see a 10+ story mid price hotel like a Hampton, Hilton Garden, Courtyard or something in the immediate area. Once Reynolds tower and the CAMA are completed (assuming they both will be) the area around both of these will become prime and new announcements will follow. Some of you guys are amazing at finding old info on past buildings. Can anyone find an original rendering of the Radisson Hotel before it was stripped of any architectural charactor to save money during construction? Please help.
  11. The only real city park we have in/near downtown is Pullen Park. It's a nice urban park just to the northwest of Dorothea Dix. There is a lake where you can take paddle boat rides, picnic, swim at the aquatics center, ride numerous kiddie rides, a train and a vintage carrousel, ball fields and tennis courts, and an arts center for theater/plays. This park is also adjacent to NC State University. Don't know if this is the kind of park you were asking about, but it is what we have. I think one of the Dix plans had a connector to Pullen Park.
  12. Any mention of a trolley line down H'borough St? If Regional Rail is not going to happen we need to address alternate transportation some other way. This seems to be the most logical place in Raleigh to start. A second line would run down Fayetteville St. I agree, roundabouts sound cool, but would probably be a waste of money and make the situation worse.
