  1. These are always fun events to go to at the UICA & at Tanglefoot Studio.

If you're into art/gallery openings, these events are for you. I highly suggest them.

  2. I'll be back from China for this event. I hope to see you there.

Where else can you try 40 beers, eat food from Mangiamo's, and listen to music for $25? This event is a great deal for a good cause:

  3. Okay, so has anyone here had UP featured in one of their dreams?

It was the weirdest thing, yet it felt like it really happened. When I got up this morning I had to check the board to see if it happened, which is didn't.

Anyway my dream featured GRDaddy, Budgie Frisket, & Rizzo..... Have you guys ever been in the same place?

    Weird.....

  4. Last weekend, I had a great time downtown at the Hispanic Festival.

Tonight I'm heading back downtown for the Mexican Independence Day Festival.

The Chicago based band, Sones de Mexico are playing tonight at 7pm, live at the Calder.

You should stop down to hear the amazing music, eat the incredible food, and drink some good beer. This high energy event makes this the place to be tongiht.

  5. Can someone tell me if Eastern Ave is open between Burton and Wealthy? The construction is really making my drive to the Derby a pain in the ass.

Are you talking about the Silver Derby on Burton? I went there for the first time two weeks ago. It was filled with Calvin college students. I guess they're all waiting for the Last Chance to re-open.

  6. Back to my weekend.....

On Saturday, (of course I went to Farmer's Market in the morning), I had a great, no I had an incredible time Downtown.

Reason #9 on why I love living in the central city:

You can walk downtown in 20 minutes.

Reason #5 on why I love living in the central city:

    Free Downtown Events!

The Avenue of the Arts Market on S Division brought me back to the East Village in NYC/Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago. It had high energy, great music, and way cool art. Love the funkiness.

Next up, Celebration on the Grand. Ohhhh.....fireworks.....cool.... Did anyone see the semi-truck with the large grill?

But by far, my favorite event on Saturday night was the Hispanic Festival. I had such a good time that I'm excited to go to this event next year. Awesome food, good drinks, and thee hottest Salsa bands. I took four friends to this event and they all had a blast. Loved it, loved it!!!

  7. Sunday morning at Triple G's

Any luck finding a liver donor yet?

That's disgusting Nitro and not proper Fancy beotch conduct.

On another note, I did make $25 this week on returning beer bottles to Martha's. I know we pay for the deposit, but its always nice to get that cash back!

  8. It disgusts me that there is not a bottle return policy in Chicago. I cringe when I'm at my sisters condo in Uptown and they oh so freely toss their bottles in the trash.

On that note, I've had a hard time throwing away wine bottles. I finally couldn't do it anymore, I decided to save them up and either find a site that would take them or wait for the City to get on board. Well, I'm thrilled that the City came on board and now accepts wine bottles.

This morning I watched the City take my recycling: 50 wine bottles and two cases of Champagne. I had to get an extra recycling bin for this one. Yeah!!!!

Now I can feel guilt-free drinking wine at home. I think I'll get a nice Shiraz to celebrate!

  9. Zach, buy a bus pass, take Route 6 to Eastown (Lake Dr. and Wealthy St. intersection) and walk back Lake Dr. to downtown.

The total walk is 2 miles and passes through great neighborhoods:

Lake Dr. dead ends at Fulton in Heritage Hill, turn left on Fulton and you'll enter the heart of Heritage Hill, and you'll be on your way downtown.

The bus system here is useful and easy to navigate.

Okay... Let's get this right for the DaMan...

The East Hills neighborhood is south of Midtown.

    Thank you, TripleG

For the record, this is the correct way to spell Eastown. There is no "e" or double "t" in Eastown.
