  1. the martha washington homes were originally built as housing for nursing students - i believe they were built in the 20's or 30's. for as long as i can remember they have been very affordable, safe, and the location is great. my first apt. was on dotger (in '94)... i loved it over there.
  2. no way! see, this is the type of thing charlotte needs to be demanding form national builders like beazer... there is no reason why beazer couldn't implement something kinda like this in their morehead project. charlotte, does indeed, allow carte blanche to developers. we have to start looking west @ how some of their projects are mandated and begin implementing some of their progressive uses of design and materials (green, green, green). the least this city could do is take a tiny, tiny step forward and ban the use of EFIS. hope you a had a great trip - MC.
  3. i drove over today @ lunch.... very nice and smooth. a group of pedestrians were strolling across the bridge sidewalks and newly planted grass has already begun growing along the banks of the mighty sugar creek. this part of the project is looking GREAT. while i don't hate the office tower - i don't love it either.... it looks like ballantyne is invading midtown.
  4. great news on the LEED. i personally love this project and am quite pleased with the new BofA tower design. also, the fact that this is one of the premier projects in the country (as far as being socially conscious) - almost eradicates any negatives... @ least in my book. i'm sure we will see more renderings soon. one thing that you can't really see on the latest rendering that was posted here... the new bofa tower actually slants inward on the 6th street facing side. you could clearly see that on the older siteplan and i hope they keep that. it detracts a little from the "box" criticism.
  5. here are some updated photos of the 2 projects that began about the same time on queens rd. (btwn providence and morehead). the first one is 420 queens - i really like it. i think it works well it the neighborhood and even challenges myers park a little. very timeless design and looks well built... (looks better in person). this next one - i don't really care for. it uses alot of EFIS. i can't remember the name.... i think it's something like "mcboring".
  6. here are a couple of shots from the steel gardens project. i wish i'd gotten more... there were actually some examples of other buildings that were very different. it seems to be a very diverse project. they are also implementing some of the older, exsisting warehouse structures.
