Hopefully we can do a 26 story or Better @ civic plaza. That site is still a great location. Sheraton may decide to do something there.

I hope so. We need to look ahead and plan for future possible expansion of the Convention Center. So the only logical way to expand is up or to the east. Don't know if that would happen, but it's a thought. They could build something brand new on the current site and replace the outdated version they have now. The landscaping and grounds look outdated too, so that needs to be upgraded. Maybe close off Exchange completely and build something new there?

The Civic Center site is a good location. Something definitely could go there. As well as apartments.

Great to see activity in Memphis. I subscribe to The Daily Memphian and am loosely following the projects.

Please keep up posted, UP Memphians.

We'll catch up with you all one day! LOL. Memphis Business Journal has good info too, need a subscription though.

Great to see how incredibly fast they have started this downtown mobility center. I wish all new development in Memphis moved efficiently and swiftly like this. If it did, Memphis could be on another level development-wise.

I am remaining optimistic about the Memphis Walk, but not too confident in the project's ability to get financing. That seems to be the struggle they are having.

We will see if it can get to the "shovels in the ground" point this fall! Would LOVE to see that project actually happen.

The Walk is definitely a game changer, and would create a boulevard like effect on Union, which is needed, since Union is one of the major gateways into downtown. Hopefully the stalling of this project means that the area can fill the demand for residential downtown without oversaturating the area. Don't want too much at one time.  Downtown has been successful in the residential projects because it has started slowly and smartly.

The design is pretty meh. I wish there was some street activation on the ground level.

I agree, looks institutional, but definitely not cookie cutter.

Like with anything in Memphis, I'd like to see more height, but aesthetically it would take away from the character of the neighborhood.

An update on the redevelopment of the former Office Depot site in the Medical District, which now has a name:

This is great infill - street level activation...across from the park, and not too far from the Orleans development.
