  1. I hadn’t checked in on this project for a while however I stumbled across this video posted by Forecc only a couple days ago for Storyville Gardens Resort. Features some nice stuff on the surrounding aspects of the project. I know Forrec was mentioned working on this project awhile back don’t know if they still are however. Also just listened to a podcast where the developer mentions working with Falcon Group but overall I don’t know how the project is trekking.

  2. New Theme park announcement as part of $2b resort in Oklahoma along route 66, called heartland of America. Concept art on their website looks to be quite detailed/impressive, and it has many ex-Disney imagineers on board.

Wonder how Storyville will be impacted???

  3. Yeah being too transparent before things are locked in can lead to a development failing.  Currently Storyville gardens are stating no delays for the project, and that a 2025 opening date is still the goal, as of Facebook comments 2 or so days ago. Not sure if 2025 will happen depending if the project has evolved to become bigger than expected, but good to see them at least answering some questions.

I just seen a small article in some construction magazine from about two months ago , that talked about Storyville and it stated that they now have cost at (1) one billion dollars!

Could you put a link to that article, or at least where you can find it?  I couldn’t find anything myself and curious to have a read if possible

I like this concept so much more than Storyville.

I definitely do too, but I think part of that has to do with the Universal brand name,  which is synonymous w high quality & reliability. We already know what they can do, and with it being in such a big metro area (Dallas/Fort Worth) compared to the size of the actual park, I can already imagine this new project being build in the next half decade and potentially being the best park for families in the US pretty soon.
As for Storyville, it’s developers are “optimistic” at best,  and a park based around books isn’t going to appeal to kids as much as stepping into your favourite universal/ dream works properties. It’s quality might be there but we don’t know that yet, and it’s doesn’t seem to be getting enough momentum for us to find out.

  6. Hadn’t checked Storyville’s YouTube in awhile, but looks like they made a 3 & a half min video about a month ago, talking about the park’s connection to reading and it does feature some concept art, mostly previous stuff though. It’s good to see them trying progress the park further, Nashville could rlly use a park and personally I think something immersive like this would suite the city’s charm better than the corporate mess of something like SixFlags. Who knows we might even have this built in half a decade or so if we’re lucky!

  7. I know this thread has been a bit dead for awhile, but I just realised that IAPPA 2023 is on in Orlando in the coming weeks, and I was wondering if Storyville or even StoryLand Studios (the park designers) have  any announcements planned up the sleeves for the convention regarding Storyville Gardens. Not like I expect them to, because of how slow the project is moving, if it's not already canceled, but just wanted to put the idea out there, incase anyone knows if anything's planned.

  8. Yeah I was really hopeful about this happening, especially at the start of the year when we were hearing all sorts of stuff about proposed locations ect., but now I’m starting to doubt it’s progress, all things considered. I think the developers have a really good idea, but without proper execution, good marketing skills & the fact that the founder believes “anything is possible on your own if you keep trying” I think I’ll give it till the end of the year to hear any big new, if not I’ll just consider it another proposal people will reminisce about in a decade of so like they always do.

  9. A verified source of mine has said that the park is now looking for “community investors” to buy $50,000 units. That confirms your theory smeags that they underestimated the initial cost and need more money because of inflation.

    Hope

Hope it's not the same Vekoma you can ride at Kentucky Kingdom. I think Hangman at Opryland (now at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom) is this model pictured or close. Please let it be something original and better like the newer Vekomas or a snappy B&M.

Tbh I don’t think they know what they’re doing in terms of coasters. Both the one at Kentucky Kingdom & the one that was at Opryland, but now is at Discovery Kindgom are the type pictured (SLC), but this model seems WAY too old to be coming to a park opening around the middle of this decade. I feel like as the project moves along, this ride will slowly  be altered to be either vekoma’s new “Suspended Thrill” model, as it is thrilling/has inversions while keeping a 48 inch height requirement, or the standard “Suspended Family Coaster”. Both of these options would better suit the park in terms of quality, target audience and opinions for theming.

  11. Storyville have reposted on their socials  an updated video of their “phoenix” roller coaster announcement, with the same image of the B&M, but then another image that is what looks like an SLC layout. They were probs just trying to hype everyone up with the B&M invert, however while an SLC is definitely a downgrade, it shows us that they are still interested in having thrilling rides at the park.  https://www.instagram.com/tv/ChvD3i5s2S7/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

And a lot of park enthusiasts are saying Dollywood's service/direction has really been off lately compared to 5-6 years ago. I hate that they removed the cave walk-through and just made a paved walkway. Hopefully something better comes of that! The fact that they built a new themed area called Wildwood Grove but completely bulldozed all the trees/foliage was a major head scratcher too.

I guess I’m used to Australian ThemeParks, that are the quality of a SixFlags, while claiming to be on the level of Disney/Universal

Maybe after receiving bids , they found out 300 million only gets them a parking lot and a hot dog stand! I’m thinking about the price tags on some of the new buildings Downtown and how do you build a whole theme park, 3 hotels a entertainment village and all the infrastructure for that ? I would imagine it to be in the billion dollar range.

I think the $300 million is just for the park itself, none of that hotel /downtown Disney kind of stuff. Who knows, it might only be for the first phase of the project.

Well, it does need to benefit the area and be a success. The way they are going about the PR right now is pretty hap hazard. Remember how everyone found out about it. It was through an ad on a proposed building that Guerrier was going to do on Charlotte that has yet to be done. The NBJ caught wind of it and forced their hand. Since then, little bits and pieces have been released as they have made their rounds to the various civic clubs and such.

Now they are releasing poor B & W images on their Facebook account and said they were going to go through a certain bidding site, but now it is showing up on multiple bidding sites. This thing is turning in to a Charlie Foxtrot on square Wheels trying to float on water. They really need to get their act together and fairly quickly!

I don’t know if you saw, but that B&M reveal has been taken of their Insta & Facebook, but is still on their twitter (which is strange). I have a feeling that, something fishy is going on behind the scenes, as that Phoenix roller coaster vid was very weird and gained a lot of attention with the coaster enthusiasts, even Coaster Studios made a video on it.

That's just the zip code for their attorney offices lol

But Still, the fact that they aren’t ground breaking until sometime early next year, and that they might be constructing in phases, means it’ll be a fair few years until this project is fully finished. Let’s just hope they get a move on and start giving the public some insight into the attractions and stuff before then.

I agree they need to be more exciting in their reveals. These little B & W drawing do nothing for me or anyone that is a roller coaster enthusiast or a theme park enthusiast. Small reveals like this are more of a letdown than anything.

They need to get off their can and get the announcement out there instead of teasers. We all know this is coming and little tidbits like this on their Facebook account make them look amateurish. They have never done a Themepark before and they have a PR firm which they are not using. Thats is a problem a lot of these first-time developers or narcissistic developers do is they do not utilize their PR firms at all or the right way. They spend all the money, and it is wasted as the main developer is trying to do it themselves. I am not saying the developer is a narcissist in anyway as they look like good people. I think they may be in a little over their heads right now and maybe a little overwhelmed.

You’re definitely right on that one. The promotion of the park isn’t prominent enough, especially considering it looks likely that it’ll open someday or another. I was waiting several days for that announcement, and I would have been really disappointed with that single picture if they didn’t surprise me with a proper B&M like they did. Hopefully once they get their feet of the ground with construction, they can show more detailed looks at the attractions, but I think it might take a year or so to get to that point.
