Anybody have a status update on this project?
I have seen some limited activity on occasion on this site which leads me to believe it is not dead. I would guess they are working through financing issues as most project are at the moment and trying to get numbers to work.

Respectfully,
I do not think Grail Central and Champs are even in the same conversation. Grail Central is "high end" clothing just in a different way than some of you may believe. $180 for a pair of shoes and $40 for a T-Shirt is higher end than H&M surely. The "Hype" community pays top dollar for certain shoes and clothing. They may venture into the "vintage" world as well. Their current Anderson location has 43 reviews and 5 stars. They also have 14.3k Instagram followers. If they are successful in Anderson they will find a ton of Success in Downtown Greenville. They already have a loyal client base who probably travels from Greenville from time to time. Take a walk around downtown any evening and you will see a ton of people wearing clothing and shoes that can be bought at this store. Not everybody is shopping at Rush Wilson or Southern Tide.
This store will do very well downtown as others outside of downtown have. This is most similar to "Hyped Experience" on Wade Hampton near Harris Teeter. 5 Stars on 97 reviews. Also "Varsity Goods" in West Greenville, 4.8 stars 225 reviews, sells similar products.
In all honesty the pedestal this forum puts H&M on as though its some super popular store in laughable at best. I have never seen an H&M that busy, nor would I consider it an attraction to shoppers. They sell crappy, cheap clothing marked up before it is inevitably marked down to $4 on the clearance rack. They are extremely disorganized and not a good fit in the downtown environment. They would be better off in a County Square or mall environment.

They have been doing a good job with all their new locations. Ones also recently opened in Mauldin and Simpsonville that both are operating very smooth whenever I go in. Their cheesesteaks are sneaky good for being a chain.
Panera and Chipotle are another story...
Our (5?) chipotles may be the worst I have ever visited. It like the local owners do not care or can't seem to train. They are constantly out of items and never clean up their messes.

Nothing for December which is three months. Any updates?
My source must not have been good on that. Although at the rate architects are moving these days 3 months to them is 3 years to the rest of us...

Looks like permit were denied last year and required revisions. Haven't seen a new application.

The airport just installed state of the art security scanners at all the TSA lines at the end of August. The problem with the new technology is that the amount of time to scan things has gotten much longer. Not sure if the staff needs to get used to having the new high tech tools or if this is the new norm.
I was wondering if I had a new guy or just a slow guy on the machine. Glad to see others experienced the same thing. We traveled around labor day and even with no one in front of us in the pre check line it took 15 minutes to get through.

Apparently a few of the higher level people on the restaurant side have left the hotel, including the Executive Chef. Not a good sign...
Not a great sign...wondering if I should move my dinner reservation.

I believe we may see a DRB agenda item for this in the next 3 months.

Thanks for your post.
You know more and better than I do about Chick-fil-A, so I’m not disagreeing or arguing, but for what it’s worth (in case helpful):
1. There was a Chick-fil-A planned for Augusta Road, but residents blocked it. The same people who would have gone to it would go to one at McBee Station.
2. There was a Chick-fil-A in the Daniel Building (although before time that CFAs started having freestanding locations).
I’d welcome a Target but I don’t see why Target would build a Staples-sized smaller store in Greenville. There are plenty of sites for a larger store.
Maybe a Market by Macy’s?
In any event, I haven’t seen an official closing announcement for that Staples, although I might have just missed it. I assume that the store simply hasn’t exercised an option to extend its lease so the landlord has started to market the space. This has happened before.
There was a chick fil a in the Daniel building? When was that?

There is a $6.5mm building permit for a 39,200 SF building at 215 Innovation Drive in CU-ICAR. I guess that is the Spec building GvilleSC mentioned.
You'd be correct. Here is the old ITB for that project. https://www.clemson.edu/giving/cufoundations/structure/culsf/culsf-flex-lab-building-project/documents/invitation-for-bids.pdf

21 Cleveland Street sold for $1,390,000 on 7/15/22 to St. Paul's Anglican Church.
Looks like the Church scooped that one up as well.

I think it was announced a while ago.
Random thought... but dont the two evergreen trees in the middle seem like a very odd placement? It basically eliminates the ability to utilize the courtyard area when someone is on stage. Seems like shade trees would be a much better option.
The evergreens already exist on site. I bet they are trying to reuse them in lieu of paying the tree fine to the city.

a $319k building permit issued for 3,500 SF at 942 S. Main St. This is one of the retail spaces in the Homewood Suites hotel.
Looks like it is a Crazy Mason Milkshake bar. Base 360 is the GC. https://www.base-360.com/portfolio/crazy-mason-milkshake-bar/

It is the parking lot on the left side of the building as you face the church building. The 'Pavilion' is on the grassy area on the right side of the church building.
So a very thin building overall?

iStore is now open.
Work appears to have started on New Realm.
Interior work has started on former Lynn Strong along with space between Savannah Bee and bluemercury.
Excited to see work begin at new realm, although I wonder if it is just for design as I don't recall them going through DRB yet??

I would assume the city would need to step in and pay for a portion of that work if they want it to happen. Question becomes how high do you build? You will never camouflage everything. Seeing as Duke installed the critter guard fence a few years back doubtful they will put more money toward it unless necessary.

Looks like work has started at 711 West Washington and the contractor is Mavin.
