Most transplants to Texas are coming from areas of California away from the coast (Riverside, San Bernardino, inland Los Angeles, inland SF Bay Area, et....) that are also brown and concrete jungle metros. Dallas can seem relatively "green" compared to those areas even, especially in summer, for a fraction of the cost of living. Compared to the East Coast though, Dallas definitely feels brown/treeless.
Every time people visit from our Dallas office they always comment on the trees and greenery.

further down in the story it says which metros have the highest percentage in technology and Raleigh is ranked #5 in the country in terms of percentage of tech in total workforce.
Glad to see I am significantly under paid.

I took a tour when I was looking at apartments about when it opened. I had previously lived at “The Francis” in the high rise portion. Honestly I wasn’t that impressed. The price was maybe a 100 dollars less than what I was paying for my previous place. I really didn’t like the fact they split the amenities based on if you were leasing in the high or low rise. For example the low rise residents had access to the dog park. But people living in the high rise portion were not allowed to access it. And vice versa with like pools and gyms. Views were cool but I felt like it was a downgrade from the last place and I wasn’t saving really any money.

The Bleachery project should start this month.
Really excited that this is actually starting and think adding some residential is actually better than the original plan.

Currently ‘Under Construction’ Apartments throughout the City Center is just utterly Staggering. I took the time to drive through all of the Nooks & Crannies of Center City Charlotte - From the Sugar Creek Station down through the Woodlawn Station (N. CLT to LoSo) and everything in between. (NoDa, OP, PM, Midtown, Gold Dist., SE, LoSo)
Significant Apartment Complex Construction is totally changing the Landscape. Do you folks think that the High Mortgage Interest Rates now, which is slowing down home sales will actually drive up Rental Occupancy Rates of these Apartments as people rent while waiting for Mortgage Loan Rates to Abate?
Personally rising rent has pushed me to buying a home even with this increase in interest rates.

Maybe he can build a balloon based practice facility. That way when he eventually changes his mind on location he can just float it away.

No, and I am going to be honest, that Krispy Kreme in the HQ is an embarrassment and arguably the worst quality KK in the whole state.
Seriously. Last time I was there flies were all over the donuts. I now go to the Cotswold store for my Krispy Kreme fix. You would think they would try a little harder.

Heard yesterday this will be a 1 billion dollar investment, to be completed in 4 stages. I hope they announce it soon. I have never been very patient.
That’s exciting to hear but knowing Columbia I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Do you know who actually owns the fairgrounds?

Honestly it is a great place for an executive meeting (and I know they have had some there one time I think the NFL owners met there) When they tore up the golf course I was concerned but now after seeing how the park is between the hotel and the new retail and apartment sites it is fine and will add to the hotel's appeal offering walkable restaurants and shops to the hotel.
The company I work for have their general manager meetings at the Ballantyne 3 times a year. The GM’s always comment on how nice it is and have been excited to see the park complete.

story on WCNC about the Epicenter including interview with the architect
this condo tower which was cancelled and I am pretty sure everyone lost their deposits on is one of the reasons people are very hesitant here to propose large condo towers. People lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in deposits. this developer had not built a high rise up to this point and of course this was never completed. It was proposed by this developer: https://flco.com/portfolio/
Really wish something like this would happen today. It’s kind of depressing seeing all these apartments going up but no way to actually own anything. This would likely be out of my price range but I am sure many people could afford one.

Here are a few of the projects going on in the downtown Rock Hill area.
1 - 3: The Exchange 229 Apartments along with 26,000 sqft of adaptive reuse retail/commercial.
4 - 5: Demolition of the Rock Hill Herald building. This will be part of an apartment project that is being done by white point partners.
6 - 8: This is part of university center project which already includes the lowenstein building, 1939 building with approximately 225,000 sqft of office space, Rock Hill Sports and Event Center and the 110 room Cambria hotel. Number 6 will be the spot of a 4 story parking garage with around 19,000 sqft of retail space along with a bus depot. Number 7 is of a new 4 story apartment complex. I believe it is around 150 units. Number 8 is the of the new student housing project called “The Nest” which is around 300 beds. At least one more market rate apartment and Student housing project are planned along with adaptive reuse of the old Rock Hill Pipe and Foundry power plant including an park/lawn space.
9 - 10: Looks like work has started on “The Thread” which will bring around 400,000 sqft of space, 50,000 of which is slated for retail.
Many smaller projects are also in the works for example Hoppin has announced they will open a third location in the cotton warehouse off of Dave Lyle Blvd. And “The Perch” which includes the adaptive reuse of the Rock Hill Coca Cola bottling plant.

You're missing my point. Im saying that the parking next door should have never included the hotels in the count for parking in the first place when they were building it. I think the hotels should have their own. It just seems to. busy having all that in one parking garage.
When I lived there the amount of confusion with hotel guests trying to park and get to the hotel was unreal. I’m talking people riding up and down the apartment resident only elevators trying to get to there hotel room and me trying to explain that they need to go down to the lobby and walk down the street. Utter confusion on their faces. This happen multiple times….

Excited that this is coming along. I really hope the nearby redevelopment of the spring’s mill “The Thread” finds some anchor tenants soon. And would love to see more action downtown in the future.

Super excited to see how much development this will drive for the area. And hoping Scout can deliver a genuinely good product.
