Vanguard officially bought Centene campus. This is super exciting in my opinion. Hopefully Vanguard continues to grow into the space.
Also of note, Centene apparently still owns about 50 acres, but sold ~90 acres to Vanguard today as part of the overall campus.

Beat me to it! My wife just got an email about the move and I was certain it had to be this space!

So how much is this festival paying for the use of the park and if the plantings are trampled on who pays the promoter?
I'm at this park a couple times a week. Past couple months all the planters have been cleared out and all the larger bushes and trees have been trimmed up considerably.
Could be regular maintenance, could be to help with the homeless. Significantly less homeless there since the landscaping has been thinned out.
No doubt there are some beautiful plants there still but I honestly don't see how even a large scale concert could ruin anything of value in its current t form.
I got my wife tickets to the festival for her birthday. Huge variety of acts she likes a lot but Noah Kahn one of her favorites.

Great picture!
I'm half way through reading "Sorting out the new south city". It's been a fantastic read so far. I've often wished for good pictures like this to look at as I read along. The maps in the book leave a little to be desired!
Anyone got any other Charlotte history related books that you would recommend?

I see "Anderson's" down there. Boy, do I miss their pancakes. Can still taste them.
I figured someone would catch that reference point! Had #2 yesterday, hoping to wrap up our stay here shortly!

Where do people grocery shop that live in that stretch hugging 277 on the north side of Uptown? Do they tend to go to the tiny HT in Fourth Ward or Food Lion in NoDa? The Plaza HT seems like fighting a lot of traffic patterns.
We live in Brightwalk, I got to the HT in Southend and my wife typically goes to the Plaza HT.
Wayne's Supermarket or mini uptown HT for any last minute simple needs.

I agree @JorgiPorgi! It's a little elevated and gives a full view angle that gets north and south ends of town!

Inner Peaks climbing gym just announced an expansion into the Foundation Supply building off North Tryon.
Sounds like a decent amount of space and with the amount of work in building out the walls I imagine that was a pretty long term lease.

I believe it's going in the Foundation Supply development off N Tryon. I work at IP part time.

Wouldn't Campnorthend also be an easy fit for this? Still very close to uptown and has parking. The space they built for Van Gogh has been used many times over already.

Ledger reports permits filed for new apartments for Camp North End.
""Camp North End last week received two building permits totaling an estimated $65M in construction costs for what appears to be around a couple hundred apartments.
The apartments are referred to as “Kinship East” and “Kinship West” in the building permit documents, and they are listed as being on Razades Way. That’s on the southern portion of Camp North End, around the corner from what are known as the Keswick food stalls and beside the building containing Leah & Louise, a Southern-style restaurant that gets mostly positive reviews on Yelp. ATCO told The Ledger last year that it had tentative plans for 300 apartments and was considering starting them by the end of 2022.""
Excited to see these start. One will be connected to the Southside of the parking deck and the other will be right across Razades way where they cut a large section out of the existing building. Should get some excellent views of the skyline from them.

Anyone got information on what could be planned for the plot of land where Double Oaks Elementary is?
They are demolishing the building currently and all I can find is old articles that mention affordable housing.

I don't subscribe so can't read the content. But this seems significant?

Where is this exactly? It says NoDa in the title of the video.

Dirt is finally moving on this project. Maybe someone can get a pic next time they're in the area?
I've been looking forward to this site being developed. There's so much going on in Charlotte it's hard to keep up with the developments.
Be glad to snap a pic as I pass it daily. Not really much to be seen yet though. As you stated, just a little dirt has been moved around.

How is parking going to be enforced since they don’t have gates and ticket machines in most of the parking locations? Going to install some over this weekend?
My guess would be like how they do it at the music factory. Which my wife got a $75 ticket at lastnight. She hadn't been paying or validating on her volleyball nights and they finally caught her.
They just have signs up at each spot that direct you to an app for payment.

Because it's completely separated from every other area, doesn't add anything to any existing neighborhoods, and moves touring acts from other venues to the hidden corner.
I live close by and enjoy being able to walk there.

We ended up on the rail just on the left side of the stage for Avett Brothers. Provided a perfect backdrop when they came out onto the stage extension in the middle! We also got a setlist and banjo pick!
