  1. I doubt if this building has any view of the river much less Tom Lee Park. Did the owner really make that statement?
  2. I hope you’re right about the finished product. The designers could have utilized the existing parking garage with its interesting federal details and built a transformational museum on top. The budget was irresponsibility wasted on replacing massive amounts of concrete with concrete. The designers could have used historic materials to match Cotton Row Buildings or used patina aged copper or bronze to give an artistic expression, instead the renderings appear to indicate a concrete bunker with a green roof, replacing a concrete bunker with an asphalt roof. A design totally out of context with its surroundings, just like its predecessor.
  3. It’s sharp, sad when a new parking garage is more attractive and artistic than the Proposed Brooks Museum.
  4. Unfortunately, the park was totally trashed by Monday, looked like a war zone after a weekend of abuse. The greatest flaw of the design is that it cannot withstand Memphis crime and our careless citizenry.
  5. Such a shame to loose a festival that was famous around the world. The park creates isolation and a potential liability and unfortunately, like other open space downtown, will not be maintained properly. Our crime wave will ruin this park and keep any festivals away if it is allowed to continue.
  6. When they selected the local architect, I had a feeling the design would end up as brutalist as the former parking garage. Unfortunately, it may be even worse. I agree that they should be required to extend the bluff walk as well.
  7. That is far too much office space unless there is a commitment from someone not already located Downtown. Raymond James is sitting nearly empty for a Class A Office Building with an unobstructed river view. The Sterick should have active ground floor retail, no more than 5 levels of office above the retail, a major luxury hotel on the middle floors, and luxury residences on the top floors. The long term viability of the building will be a challenge since there is no parking. I believe relocating the Visible Music School into the building, replacing the current school building with a large parking structure containing hotel amenities and meeting rooms on top and a liner building with residences overlooking Autozone Park fronting Madison Avenue is the best solution for this building.
  8. The design of the new building on Front Street is a disgrace, no storefront and parking on the ground floor. Tired of bad urban design invading our downtown.
  9. Anything short of a JW Marriott, Ritz Carlton, Renaissance, St. Regis, Waldorf Astoria, Four Seasons, or Luxury Collection would be a slap in the face to the beauty of this building.
  10. I sure hope more revenue generating events are on their way to make up for the astronomical losses already experienced by Memphis in May and its related spin off to Downtown business.
  11. The City should counter and pull the parking agreement at the Mobility Center.
  12. MATA needs to extend the trolley line 4 blocks north to access the Snuff District including the Conwood development, Varsity Spirit, Soul and Spirits Brewery, and the many new apartment developments. I would love to see a second Top Golf location placed between the Snuff District and the Grind City Brewing Company. The Trolley Extension might make this possible by allowing a safe transit corridor between the area and the many Downtown Hotels.
  13. Someone needs to take an aerial photo similar to this and patch in Union Row/The Walk, Bakery District Apartments Phases 1 & 2, the Ravine Park, the proposed redevelopment of the Office Depot site, and the planned BRT transit stops along Union Avenue. Once done it will be apparent that the missing link is the Commercial Appeal Site. This is where the 901FC Soccer Stadium should be constructed and wrapped with a large parking structure and a mixed use development. FIFA actually has design guidelines for their stadiums at the following link: https://stadiums.fifa.com
  14. I have no confidence that the City will hold the developer to 3.0. We will be lucky if we can avoid Whataburger’s dive-through facing Union Avenue.
