That last remaining large lot in Capitol View is slated for a 10 story Sarah Canon Cancer Research building and an 11 story hotel.

The small lot between Hampton Inn and the Health Stream building Is going to be a 1-2 story retail/restaurant development if I recall correctly.

I'm well aware of the masterplan, thank you.

Dave Stewart, who played in the MLB for 16 years, won the World Series three times, was named World Series MVP once, and who has pursued owning other MLB teams, has been brought on to lead Nashville's Diverse Equity Ownership initiative where they hope Nashville's MLB team will be the first majority minority owned team in the league.

"We started this process four years ago. Nashville is a fast-growing city. It has a beautiful population of people," he said. "There's so much going on here. So, MLB put Nashville as one of its top places for expansion, and I think that triggered the idea to go down this path."

This is a shortened version of the ESPN article... Group led by Dave Stewart preparing bid for potential MLB expansion team in Nashville (espn.com)

Would like to see some affordable housing in their proposal, if it ever goes forward.

It’s why I think they are legit putting in at least part of their HQ2 there, either that or they are significantly investing in healthcare.

They are absolutely getting into the Healthcare market.

My friend at the big Healthcare campus downtown said Amazon has been actively recruiting and poaching her employees for some time.

The Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. will move into a 17,800 sq. ft. space in the 10 story 500 11th Ave. North tower at Capitol View in October. They will move their 67 employees from One Nashville Place. A $1.2 million permit has been issued for Flow construction to handle the build-out.

I can see them working on the build out of the 6th floor from my apartment.

Since people have brought up Tony G.  and Signature Tower, has anyone that has access to him out right asked him if Signature tower would be a possibility? I mean I love all the development going on in Nashville and enjoy seeing the changing skyline every time I come home (I’m 105 miles East on I40 as I write this) but everything is so boxy. I know some will roll their eyes because we’ve discussed this, but seriously…I’m thankful that at least the Circle South tower will appear to be slanted.

Let it go, it's been 14 years.

^ ^ ^ The polio vaccine worked on the macro scale because everyone got it (there is still polio in the world, it's just contained by and large). The same would happen if everyone got the Covid-19 vaccine.  And the Covid-19 shots do not have a "poor" track record.  There are a few tough situations that have resulted....but WAY less than if people did not have the vaccine available at all.

OK---let's move off of this subject and back to discussing economic conditions as they relate to development in Nashville.

For what it's worth... I know one of the women who had a resulting blood clot from the J&J vaccine and she does not regret receiving it.

I also know numerous people who have DIED from Covid.

So how much is insurance NOT covering?  And what would look different after the 'restoration'?  And that damn parking lot at the corner of 2nd and Church needs to be developed with a 6-8 story classic styled building of some mixed use. Like looking at a person's mouth with the two front teeth missing.

That's up to the Owner of the lot, it mentioned redevelopment of underperforming lots but I don't know if you can force them to build.

The white lights are absolutely blinding in the North - South direction.  I've heard from friends at 11North that they  have been complaining about them as well.   Excited for a wider sidewalk.

I saw them testing the ground about a year ago. Hope they do something cool with the property considering the size. These apartments will have the greenway right next to it. Great free amenity for people

The greenway is great however there's quite a few homeless people living between the greenway and the traintracks and it's full of trash, I can't tell you how many times it's been accidently set on fire.  The constant road & intersection closures of 11th & Charlotte has been super fun too.

The inside looks nice, but my god does the exterior bug the hell out of me. What are those leafy panels and why do they exist?? Why are they different from the gray paneling? Where are the windows on the 8th-facing side? I have so many questions.

The 'leafy' panels are lights.  I guess they could have added some clerestory windows but the nearly solid walls are desirable in this case.

Am checking around to see the status.

Considering they just now decided to freeze our monthly payments for a hockey season that's still in question, they should have a good chunk of money to fund this project.  If they could fast track these improvements while the building was not being utilized that would be really smart - maybe they are.
