When Spectrum Center's naming rights are up, Honeywell needs to jump on them. May I present:

I like the idea and aesthetic of midnight diner - but their breakfast is terrible.

Last I heard from folks in the know - the hotel portion will be continuing. The fact the crane is still there tells me all I need to know.

The loss of Earl's and other retail/restaurant struggles in midtown is frustrating. CPCC and Novant's land grabs have created dead blocks without much street interaction. The gold line should spur some private development, but if we're supposed to see a pedestrian reawakening here, then I think we're in for a rude awakening. There aren't many places to go. I pray the Elizabeth/Midtown office tower gets built because this area is sorely underutilized. Novant should consolidate their parking along 5th and Elizabeth Ave. Elizabeth Avenue has a ton of potential - but it's being held back IMO because it needs more small storefronts along it to really create a dynamic energy. It could be a really hip area to hop off the gold line and Novant + CPCC would both benefit in the long run. But it currently feels like an afterthought that barely survives on the hospital lunch crowd.

I know it was already fixed on the east facing side. Appears to be peeling on the north side now. But what is going on with the steel's black paint coming off. Never seen that before and just curious what's causing it.

Not sure I understand the "digital museum experience." I intentionally go to physical museums (bigger the better) to immerse myself. Being present with the collections or subject matter eliminates distractions and IS the experience. I'm all for opening up the block for development as long as they maintain a footprint some where. It would be a shame to lose another brick/mortar museum uptown.

So yesterday, a day after the CDC announcement that people who are vaccinated are safe to go largely mask free, my agency had a Zoom meeting, not to tell everyone to come back to the office, but just the opposite: "Your home is now your office, permanently." In fact, they just hired a couple new people, one in San Antonio and one in Indiana, and those two individuals will NOT be moving. We are going to be almost 100% virtual. The agency is moving out of its old office space where the lease has expired and moving into another location that's about 25% the size. This pandemic has taught those in charge that we can accomplish the same amount of work with everyone working from home and also save a boatload of money. I'm sure many employers having gone through this pandemic are making the same assessment. Which makes me wonder, what's going to happen to our cities? Are we going to have a bunch of abandoned office buildings throughout the country and never see any new ones get built? Are hoards of urban dwellers going to flee to the country now that they no longer need to reside close to an office?
Are they paying you more to cover the expenses and square footage of your home office? This sounds like a cost saving move of a company prioritizing profit over culture.

The Knights stadium footprint could absolutely support a MLB stadium. Just look at Petco Park as an example. With some vision (and permanent road closures), they could totally build out into 4th and Mint street and the Green's Lunch parcel. Then just tear down the current concourse and build up from there. Could even build into Graham and make the surrounding area pedestrian focused. Also, with TV rights and the future of baseball we could probably get away with a 30-35k capacity ballpark.
