Once the new facility is completed which is expected in December 2023, Greenlink will be able to add 19 new routes, rotate buses every 30 minutes at stops instead of every hour, add more maintenance space, extend operation hours, run buses on Sundays, and continue the switch to make all Greenlink buses electric from Proterra. The current maintenance facility next to Fluor Field will be put up for sale in hopes of it being redeveloped into a mixed use development.
More info here: https://www.greenvillesc.gov/1725/Maintenance-Facility-Project
I rode Greenlink for the first time last week and again this weekend. It ended up lining up in a way that was faster than calling for an Uber. The app to pay was easy to set up and the buses arrived and departed exactly on time.
I'm glad they are increasing the frequency, because every hour is horrible if you miss your bus. 30 mins is still not wonderful, but it makes the system a lot closer to usable as an alternative to driving some places.- 6

There are actually ten retail and restaurant spots for lease at Camperdown currently. Probably more than most people realize.
Group Therapy looks amazing going off the social media pics also. Definitely need to get over there ASAP.
It's bigger on the inside than I thought it would be.

Is it just me or does it seem construction has stalled? I haven’t noticed much progress to finish the exterior in months. By contrast the Jackson Way project is always a beehive of activity.
They are still making progress on the exterior, I saw a crew finishing a new side last week. But yeah you are right it seems like progress has been ridiculously slow. Maybe problems getting whatever building cladding it was designed with?

This park serves three main functions. 1) a great place to take kids that doesn't cost anything yet offers something for their parents too. 2) to serve as the premier node along the SRT 3) provide a worthy backdrop and additional reason to visit the more adult type activities fostered by the Delano warehouse building and the Welborn Commons.
If you aren't a parent the first function doesn't really appeal to you.
You also have to recognize the majority of trees are not mature, so the park will look and function a lot better when they have. It will also make more sense why this park was put here when the Delano building and the others that will soon follow are built along the edge of the park.
I find the park pretty impressive in person. Especially imagining all the bits around it yet to come.

I can’t understand for the life of me why Auro Bridge wasn’t painted.
The point of that type of steel is that once it forms its layer of oxidation (rust) on the outside the oxidation protects it (like aluminum). It means that you don't have to spend money on keeping it painted and it just always looks like that.

Glad to see that they'll have 50 seats outside, and may consider a permanent structure in the future. They'll have great visibility from above on Main Street.
Camperdown is going to pretty dessert heavy. Not that I'm complaining.

And now I find myself wishing we'd tap the brakes a bit, it feels like we're starting to grow too fast. We're already seeing the impacts of greater traffic, harder road maintenance, increasing crime, homelessness, etc. The last thing I want to see Greenville become is another run-of-the-mill town/city with all the same problems and lessening quality of life of so many other areas.
You can't stop people wanting to live in a place. That is a false option.
All you can do is direct the growth in a way that creates a livable city. You have to ride the wave which I think so far at least the city of Greenville has done a pretty decent job.- 2

I honestly can't tell the difference b/w this and 90% of the other buildings going up; they all look the same. Maybe people said the same thing during other architectural periods but man this style is so pervasive in everything. Thank goodness for The Bohemian, the new Courthouse, and Bridgeway station!
This video goes into why a lot of apartments all look the same now.

Before anybody freaks out, it has not stalled. They were working on the large rotunda restaurant space area that fronts Rhett Street (installing the steel that will hold the glass) when I drove by on Monday. I’m sure they’re having supply issues like everybody else on the planet.
Yeah, I figured that they were having supply or labor issues. I don't know how common the exterior pieces that they are using are.

City Council is considering replacement of the Willard Street Bridge over the Reedy River just west of Unity Park (beyond the railroad tracks). The City is currently installing curbs and sidewalks along Willard to connect the adjacent neighborhoods with Unity Park. One option that they will consider is routing the Swamp Rail Trail crossing underneath the new bridge. It was discussed in the City Council work session on March 14.
I drive over that bridge semi regularly and it is in very poor condition, so great!

Looks like the lane configuration was completely redone over night. Eager to hear people's experiences
Just drove over part of it for lunch. Honestly if I didn't know it was coming might not have noticed. Didn't see any traffic problems so far.

And yet they’re keeping all of their other locations open. Tells you how great the downtown Greenville market is.
It is on a side street, and with the loss of Gringos and the other fancy sandwich place, probably they lost a lot of foot traffic. Not even counting the last two years probably were tough.
At least there is still Hoppin' if I want to get my alcohol vending machine hangout spot fix. -

This may already have been discussed, so apologies ahead of time if so, why is Larkin's moving? That spot seems amazing where they are now. Is it expected traffic from the Grand Bohemian? I have hear they may be getting Nantucket. I would think that Larkins currently being soooooo close to the peace center, having that amazing outdoor patio, and being on the water just would be something that could not be topped.
It was my understanding this was a new Larkin's concept restaurant, not them moving. Perhaps I am misremembering.

I'm laughing my ass off at that conceptual picture of the surf park. That is cool as hell, but does that even exist in cities?
Surf parks will be the new Axe Throwing, Cup cake stores, and Trampoline parks!

Considering how hard the developer worked and how hard it was to get, approval to go higher than 5 floors, I expect there will be several buildings taller than that.
The middle buildings appear to have setbacks, and I would guess that some of them have some height.

The bridge over the Laurens road next to Willy Taco is also making good progress. Two big cranes are over there on either side, and yesterday when I drove past it looked like the concrete pillars to hold the bridge were starting to be installed/built.
