  1. From the Sentinel: Kuhn snags eatery for Church Street
  2. I believe you're talking about the highrise at Reunion.

    SunRail

The latest I've heard is that the Saxon extension was canceled, and so, the stop there was nixed and moved about 4 or 5 miles to the south. Dirksen Road area, I think.
  4. Thanks, too, orlandonative for all of your "inside" posts throughout the meeting!
  5. If you can't get the Sentinel stream to work (it wouldn't work for me either), try Orange TV's: Orange TV stream
  6. Excerpt from the Sentinel article: Meanwhile, an Orange County advisory board OK'd the spending of tourist taxes on the arts center and Citrus Bowl in a 7-1 vote Wednesday. The lone dissenting vote on the Tourist Development Council, International Drive hotel magnate Harris Rosen, said he might challenge the venues deal in court. Taxpayers "deserve the right to have a say" through a voter referendum, said Rosen, who once sued the county over its bid to lure pro baseball to the area. One word: Geez!
  7. The construction that you're beginning to see on the Beachline/528, west of the McCoy interchange -- including the TP overpass rebuilding -- is all a part of the Turnpike Enterprise's upgrades to 528. The first part is due to be 6 lanes between McCoy and the TP, with a new toll plaza being built there by Florida Mall. Ultimately, phase 2 will bring widening to the section of 528 between the TP and I-4. TP Enterprise announcement
  8. Well, there were plans for one a few years ago (AGT/monorail), and it apparently is still on the table for sometime in the next 20 years. More info on the CFRail site. Easements are currently in place, and it's accounted for in the site renderings for CityMark. Of course, whether it will actually happen in the future is anyone's guess.
  9. Below are links to the permitting statuses of the parcels of land there: DG Parcel 1 DG Parcel 2 DG Parcel 3 DG Parcel 4

Channel 13, WFTV, Dyer, Sheehan, etc. were all there. Keep a look out for the details on the related channels.

VIP party is tonight beginning at 5. WFTV and the Mayor are due to be there.
  12. As best I can tell from Seminole's site, it's only minor improvements being made at this point, though I can't determine exactly what those improvements are. On the other hand, in the state's 20-year plan, ultimately an interchange is planned for that intersection.
  13. Funny enough -- if you want to call it "funny" -- I happen to catch on OrangeTV several months ago, when the Wal-Mart was first planned there (but not approved yet), along with the expansion of Sand Lake Hospital, the Whole Foods, etc., they (the county commission) were going around and around about how they couldn't approve all these projects when the bottleneck of the Sand Lake Rd./Turkey Lake Rd./I-4 interchange exists. The configuration simply couldn't handle the existing or the projected traffic. Yet, here they are -- all approved, and I see no upgrades being made to the intersections. They're going to have to put in at least one stop light there at that Wal-Mart, but it's not done yet either.
  14. It refers to the easement and planned corridor for N/S light rail -- if it ever happens -- which is elevated along that portion of the route. Of course, as sunshine pointed out earlier, the LTR alignment also runs across the 1000 N. Orange lot. Not sure if the MPB board required them to allow for a throughway for LTR.
  15. Actually, it looks like those are being demolished to make way for a stormwater pond, albeit indeed a part of the I-4/Colonial upgrades. It does look, though, that maybe Garland will be losing perhaps a lane to make way for the widening/new ramps.
  16. They're actually two towers -- two phases. First rendering is "front" view (looking southwest), second is "rear" view (looking northeast). yep. From $600s - over $1M.

  18. Regarding the North I-Drive overpass...
  19. Again, I apologize for being somewhat off-topic -- this probably should go under the "Freeways..." thread, but it's also relating to the I-Drive/attractions area -- this is what they're planning to do to the Kirkman interchange...
  20. Speaking of the I-Drive area -- and I apologize, I know this is more tailored to the "Freeways, Roads..." thread, but I figured while we were on the topic of upgrades to the I-Drive area -- here's the alignment of the Kirkman Extension. This is a bit old, so I'm not sure if it still extends all the way to the Beach Line -- I think as it's aligned now it might encroach into the space that's to be inhabited by the intermodal center. Still, it would be convenient to plug into the back of Aquatica south of the Beach Line.
  21. This is, I believe, the Grandnational Dr. project that's on the July MPB agenda -- hence the "grand" in the article's title. It would be on the southeast side of where Oak Ridge/Grandnational currently curves from its east-west alignment to a north-south alignment, running parallel to I-4 before ultimately looping back to I-Drive. Basically, it would be across Oak Ridge/Grandnational from Prime Outlets (formerly Belz). This new development is also adjacent to the Altamira project that was before the MPB a few months back. As for the overpass, I've tried to find alignments on-line, but to no avail. Basically, though, it's due to run from the current east-west alignment of Oak Ridge/Grandnational, across I-4, and to Caravan Court and Major Blvd., by the hotels and the Cracker Barrel. There would be no interchange, just the overpass. [Edit] Indeed, it is that parcel of land I was thinking of. They're planning 2 towers -- one 20-story, one 32-story. The city has conditioned approval upon the developer contributing towards the overpass, among other things. The city's also requiring that the developer contribute to extending Altamira all the way to Grandnational from Int'l. And it was the Douglas Grand project that's next door -- the one I was mentioning earlier, which was before the MPB a few months back. That one is 750 hotel rooms, 250 residential units and 50K s.f. of retail. They contributed 1.6M to the overpass.
