Seems like they took L’occitane’s spot. L’occitane now has a kiosk near the hallway where express and Warby Parker is. I wonder if they will move again
According to the mall’s Instagram the kiosk is temporary and their new store will be close to Nordstrom.

There already was a Vineyard Vines near Nordstrom but they closed to make way for Arlo (athleisure store). It’s been a while now that they are coming soon. Not sure why it’s taking so long.
Their construction door was open when I was at the mall last week and it looks like they’re almost ready to bring the inventory to the floor.
Tommy Bahama’s Marlin Bar will open its first NC location in the former McCormick & Schmick’s at SouthPark. The retail store will also be relocating from within the mall to the same space.

Hollister definitely isn't high end, and there's a location at Northlake Village.
As far as I know there has never been a presence of Hollister's sister concept, Gilly Hicks, anywhere in NC, though.
You’re right, I only included Hollister because it was in one of KJ’s pictures. There was a Hollister store at SouthPark a few years ago beside of the original Abercrombie store.
The first attempt with Gilly Hicks before they went online only never made it to NC. Abercrombie seems to be pushing it more now so maybe a store will land in Charlotte eventually.

Ralph Lauren in SP closed a long time ago actually. And we never had an A/X. You’re thinking of Emporio (which was actually an Armani Colezzioni that changed to an Emporio).
Ralph Lauren is at Phillips Place.

The only higher end stores that Charlotte has and Tampa does not is Alexander McQueen, American Girl, and Ralph Lauren. Tampa has several stores that have closed their Charlotte location including AX Exchange, Hollister, and Montblanc.

Can we start talking for real about South Park getting an expansion? The waitlist for retailers seems to indicate it could support twice the square footage. I know that's unrealistic, but I see so many places here doing active expansions/remodels while remaining open (the airport being a great example) how hard would it really be to add a level and/or consume some of the surface lots?
If an expansion happens, it will be the redevelopment of an existing anchor store rather than adding a second level to the mall. The only area of the mall built to add another level is Neiman Marcus. I don’t think there is any examples of a mall anywhere in the country adding an entirely new level to the existing mall.

Looks like roughly $3.2 Billion in combined revenue...so somewhere around #800 on the Fortune 1000 list. This is great news for Carowinds. Six Flags is closing all of their corporate offices and Cedar Fair is finally making Charlotte the official HQ after years of quietly moving corporate positions from Ohio to the former Paramount office down the street from Carowinds.

You can’t really blame Wells Fargo for wanting to add signage to the building. No one outside of these forums knows that Wells Fargo owns the building in the first place and will likely still refer to it as the Duke Tower for years to come.

Mall vacancy is down from a year ago which is good news regardless.

Ugh...I misread that and almost had a heart attack
The permit spells it Channel and I didn’t realize it wasn’t spelled correctly until you pointed it out lol. Surely they meant Chanel.

According to permit plans a True Food Kitchen and Channel are headed to the mall.

It may be a custom ride but Cedar Fair has the same exact type of coaster from the same manufacturer at its other parks in the U.S. and Canada. I would imagine each coaster is a "stock" product that is just customized to each individual park, so it should be fairly easy to call up the vendor and have a support column shipped.
23 hours ago, kermit said:Agree, but this particular vendor is in Western Switzerland. I suppose they have prepositioned parts near their largest market, or they have a metal shop on retainer. Could they fly something this big in?
8 hours ago, JRCLT said:No, something that big would need to be shipped.
B&M’s North American coasters, both track and supports, are built in an Ohio warehouse and then shipped to their respective parks.

Oh I have seen it everywhere from the Daily Mail of the UK to all US national media.
But in the end it will be fixed and reopened however I think that might be after this season is over.
I don’t think it will take that long. Now that the park doesn’t have an off-season and operates year round, and this ride in particular is open through the entirety of the year including during the Halloween and Christmas events, I believe it will be re-opened before SCarowinds begins.

Birkdale is really pulling some big deal tenants lately. This store will be 3k square ft bigger than the Northlake store was too.

I wish they add a hotel to Southpark Mall like they did at Phipps in Atlanta.

Simon Property Group to spend $1.5 billion on hotels and apartments. No mention of SouthPark or Charlotte in the article specifically, but interesting news following their recent purchase of the hotel at Phillips Place.

So apparently they closed the Starbucks in the mall. This seems strange to me but also learned a few months back that the Lenox square one closed as well.
That brings the total storefront vacancies up to 8 now.

Simon Property Group (owner of SouthPark Mall) has purchased the Hampton Inn at Phillips Place for $42 million. Very interesting.

Other wildcard how Zara will fit.... Macy's could finally be leaving SouthPark Mall (they've largely given up on competing here) and one level of their building becomes Zara and the other becomes available to another tenant or expansion space.
If Macy’s were to close I think it’s more likely the entire building would be demolished and rebuilt for additional retail expansion or hotel/office like what just happened at Phipps Plaza in Atlanta.

What are we going to complain about now.
Exciting news!
I wonder where the Zara is going to go in the mall? Perhaps the old Microsoft store location (doesn't seem big enough though). I don't see any large vacancies on the mall map.
They must know something we don’t.

ZARA will bring some much needed foot traffic to that side of the mall. Always thought Old Navy was an odd choice for SouthPark, they only lasted 8 years.
