  1. You're right sorry about that. Basically an area not adjacent to downtown that has an arts/food/beer scene but no corporate demand generators (what a hotel typically looks for). I know people have debated here how strong the food is, but I do believe that its going to keep getting better. I think the area is unique enough to draw hotel guests, but examples elsewhere would help.
  2. Can anyone assist me in finding other neighborhoods around the country similar to NoDa, preferably in a city about our size? It would be an added bonus if it was a neighborhood that has a hotel. TIA.
  3. I could see that working. A new construction hostel would be difficult to pull off here. Any non-branded boutique would be tough actually. Maybe a soft branded or lifestyle branded property with some smaller rooms that could serve the hostel purpose, and some larger rooms for a more "traditional" room for someone staying in town for a while. The Hotel Indigo Athens GA or any of the 21c Museum locations are decent examples of what we don't have yet but could push the boundaries a little, and price lower than the Bohemian or Kimpton types.
  4. Is the general consensus here that a loft style boutique hotel in NoDa would draw enough guests to be successful? Assuming it is more competitively priced than Uptown product, industrial feel, possibly pet friendly. I'm not sure it would be the first place my friends recommend someone from out of town stay, but it is really hard to measure who is staying in the hotels here and why. I think it would be way more attractive for people coming for UNCC related visits to stay in NoDa and use the rail, but again, not sure if people from out of town would see it the same.
