no can dooski. Currently trying to acquire images through more legitimate channels, ones that won't get people fired. I filed a Freedom of Information act request yesterday.

Limetone or a light colored granite and glass, 655 feet.

So about that picture

It's a start and might embarrass others into doing more?
I was just going to say the same thing. I feel like there's a snowball effect building, especially in 3rd ward.

Black Americans WANT to talk about these things and comiserate in empathy over these issues, but as White Americans we are often afraid to. For those above reasons. But we are also awkward and fumbling about it. Just feel people out and start those small interactions, whether it's at the grocery store or the coffee shop. Gradually everyone will grow and build stronger bridges.
I can definitely relate to this. I don't want to come across as the "righteous white guy" trying to fix the problem and as a result I trip over my words. I just want to talk about it openly and honestly.
And I really just want more black friends

It seems that as of this morning, many news and media outlets are reporting on a much more peaceful night. I don't know about you guys, but I felt a lot of pride in our city last night and this morning looking at images of protestors and the national guardsmen shaking hands and hugging (among many other similar images).
I think this week really provides Charlotte a unique opportunity to grow as a community in ways other cities might not have. I hate how it happened, but I'm really optimistic.
Does anyone know of ways to keep this dialogue going? Public forums? Workshops? Any info would be great.
(And maybe this topic warrants it's own thread...)

Huh? The agenda article says the cop is black
Wasn't there in the original article.

Welp the riots and shooting have made national news. Media being terribly irresponsible with their reporting. Well this is a bummer
In what way is the media being irresponsible? Which outlets?
I noticed Andrew Dunn in the agenda this morning highlighted the fact that the victim was black in his headline, but failed to report the officer that shot Scott was also black. To me that's irresponsible.
NPR did a much better job at laying out the story:
Maybe have Andrew take a read of some of these stories for pointers. Unless of course the agenda is more about headline grabbing and clickbait.

(*I'm not aware of a N Tryon Vision Plan thread, if there is please move)
The plan document is up as part of the Meck County Commission meeting agendas https://mecklenburg.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=2834776&GUID=A097037B-164A-4AA0-8394-510B0B75DE51&Options=&Search=
There's lots of imagery, some we know to be in the works, other images are much more conceptual. One really notable item is a proposed reclad of the Discovery Place (and some cleverly located Koontz). Fun things to imagine!
So I just read through the vision plan and I loved some of the ideas in there. How closely will Levine adhere to what's in the plan?
Or maybe what I'm asking is this: Is the overall plan more of a "Here's what our dream state would be..." or is it an actual planning document created with the intent to build and develop as close to the plan as possible?

With the proportion of the parking deck I think another 5 floors or so would have helped it look far more lean. I agree with "it looks stubby".
So is this as high as its getting?

Not at all, but I wish. Don't worry, we will all see it in time.
Can you share the architect designing the building?

Don't know any of that yet, all I know is about the office tower. It's phase 1AAA, they definitely have a tenant for the speed at which they are moving this
Maybe let's go with this, a mix of One Atlantic Center + Key Tower + One Worldwide Plaza and a TOUCH of BofA corp lol. It's a pretty great design
Can you draw us a picture?

Is there any standard criteria around what constitutes a "superstructure?"
Example: Over 25 stories, Less than 50 - something like that?
Or is it some ill-defined catch-all for "big building?"

Is there going to be some sort of dynamic light display above the retail spaces? In the renderings on the fences they show some blue light looking thing above the shops. Anyone know anything about that?
If something like that is going in, it would go a long way to liven up trade and tryon even more.

This may be semi off-topic, but couldn't find a better place to ask:
What do most of you do for a living that you're all really "in-the-know" about Charlotte projects? I'm just your friendly neighborhood banker with a passing affinity for development projects (and frequent agenda reader), but you guys all have the top shelf details on what's going on around town. I'm very jealous, but glad you all share openly here.
I'm also considering pursuing a Masters in Urban Design from UNCC, which is why I'm curious.
It may be a good idea for me to come to a meet up one of these days to discuss this more
Thanks guys!
