Was driving down Parkwood at Allen and noticed a rezoning petition sign (2018-060) on the site where the below building is located:
It appears that the plan is to keep this old church and put townhomes (?) on the site:
Any additional insider info?

I shop the produce all the time at multiple FL's and HT's (Tega Cay, Rivergate, Tiny Teeter, Sandy Porter, Plaza). FL always is better produce on general items except at the affluent HT's. Lots of people dog the ole kitty, but my experience has been good 99% of the time vs other stores. But that been my experience, I realize others might be different.
Couldn't agree more - I've been consistently impressed with how fresh the Plaza FL produce is compared to HT... really the only drawback is that the assortment of items is a little narrower.

Was grabbing a quick bite at the delicious Tamales la Pasadita at 3112 The Plaza the other night, and discovered that they blew out the wall next to the booths and appear to be expanding their dining area. Very happy to see this local restaurant doing well, and hope to see more dining establishments moving into this area in the near future.

I was just talking to a friend last night about how odd it is that there's no Facebook page and no Agenda press to be found...

Does anyone know the story of this building at 1500 Shamrock? There never seems to be any activity (people coming or going) or upkeep to the building.
The surrounding area is all zoned residential but it feels like it could be a cool spot for a NoDa Bodega-esqe type operation.
Update: Both the property on Shamrock and the adjacent property on Beckwith were sold on 8/10 to the same buyer/company. Not much noise until yesterday when the doors were open and things were finally being cleared out.
Anyone have any info on the plans for this?

While its great news to get another mid-size venue option, I don't expect this to remotely fill the void left by Chop Shop and Tremont (or Double Door *sob*). Don't get me wrong, I will happily attend a show there, but just don't expect a Live Nation operated venue in a branded complex to ever develop the same type of organic divey authenticity that made those other venues special. I am still hoping the Chop Shop guys have something in mind for a new location.
Couldn't agree more! Even still, I'm all for giving local artists another place to build a following... hopefully they do it right.

Good news...I guess....
Live Nation is signing a lease to take over the old Bootleggers Saloon. I assume they will be using this for concerts where The Fillmore is still a little too large? The space is 11,500 sf, so similar to the recent close Tremont Music Hall which was 12,300 sf.....though I don't think The Fillmore itself is much bigger....maybe they are missing on tours where they would be double booked? I dunno.
This is def a THIRD venue for Live Nation at the Music Factory, and not just a relocation of The Fillmore.
As I understand it, that is EXACTLY the intent for this space. After two failed attempts at country bars (let's just all agree that Coyote Joe's is the undisputed king in the Charlotte area), this space will now hopefully fill the void left by The Chop Shop and Tremont. Charlotte has been getting some solid top-tier acts in recent years, but to truly be known as a music-centric city, it also needs to support mid-tier and up-and-coming local acts. I'm personally very excited to see what they do with the place!

The purported aversion to chain brands was always a little odd to me since Cabo and Boudreaux are just transplants from Blacksburg.

That's a very interesting argument against cul-de-sacs. I'm assuming there's one proposed development in particular that has triggered this concern? The website doesn't seem otherwise concerned about the other reasons cul-de-sacs are terrible.
(the errant space in sac s is making me crazy)
The original signs all had an apostrophe between the C and S... if you thought the space was making you crazy...

Can anyone assist me in finding other neighborhoods around the country similar to NoDa, preferably in a city about our size? It would be an added bonus if it was a neighborhood that has a hotel. TIA.
The Alberta Street neighborhood in Portland has a similar feel, although I'm not sure if they have any hotels in the area.

I spoke with Adam Spears, owner of The Local Loaf and he indicated to me that I can pass the word that he has signed a letter of intent to take the space vacated by Bodega on 35 street. Still some zoning issues to iron out, but Adam is on his way!
Is the Bodega going somewhere??

I have it on good authority the The Fried Rooster is set to open by the end of the month. Looking forward to another restaurant on this stretch of The Plaza!
