  1. Baldwin Harbour in Baldwin Park is back. But this time, instead of half million dollar condos, proposed as two 4 story apartment buildings with parking garages on the lake. 400+ units.
  2. "The bottom line, Orlando gets what it wants, just like the money that came out of nowhere to pay for a soccer stadium that was on no one's radar. The bottom line is priorities - and I'll address that in just a moment." Do have to reply: it's been very clear for over two years that the team has wanted to build a stadium, so the term nowhere is not fair. the team has never denied not trying to build a soccer specific home from day one many months ago. in fact, soccer stadium proposals date back for 10+ years for downtown
  3. developer is currently building www.azulbaldwinpark.com my guess is that this start when the other is completed
  4. the most recent renderings of the Fashion Square mall redevelopment show a REI (new to Orlando), a Whole Foods (probably replacing the old one in Winter Park) and a Super Target (which means the one across the street whole relocate) Hopefully these come to fruition and would be great !

  8. Lots of work going on in the Baldwin park area. The post apartments are coming along very quickly (wood construction), with door and windows already installed on some units. The tallest building at four stories on the lake is already topped-off. The Jefferson apartments near blue-jacket park are set to break ground next month, four-five stories. And a 150-200 unit asssisted living project proposed at the opposite end of the lake was recently announced. Rumors are the village center is getting new life with the new owners, and things should pick up and fill out significantly in 2013. Meanwhile, single-family housing construction has picked up. I can count six $500 - $1 million dollar homes under construction off the top of my head, and the last empty David weekly three-story townhouse lot just broke ground. David weekly purchased the property on lake Baldwin (former Lincoln property office building lot) and will build 9 more three story town home buildings next year. In addition to the fashion square redevelopment, there is a lot going on in 2013 and beyond for this part of town. Also, the Jefferson Baldwin park project might be joined by a sister project downtown.
  9. Interesting that the developer stated In recent interview that his biggest regret was not purchasing the out-parcels adjacent to the mall. The subdivisions behind the mall seem to be pretty dated, not pedestrian-friendly, and lower-income. I think a 4-star boutique hotel would definitely work in the area, closer to the I-4 side or near the container store area. That would be a start in the right direction. The 3 apartments complexes that have been built around the mall are typical suburban developments unfortunately
  10. The sevens loses its iconic "twist" feature in its latest revival. I don't dislike it. It's pretty massive for uptown.
  11. ^^excellent news. i was sad to see the kiehls store at pointe orlando close. great new addition.
  12. ^^ nice addition to the vacant acres around the studios. and great news mainly as a signal that the local economy has shifted gears.
  13. To add to the updates: Millenia - Emporio Armani recently opened in the old St John's space. Apple is expanding into the old Kenneth Cole location. Betsy Johnson, which recently relocated upstairs near Crate and Barrel, is closing (nationwide) and Allen Edmonds moved into the adjacent space. Pinkberry also opened up. I am hoping a something great will replace the former McCormick and Schmick's space, perfect location for a new restaurant. FL Mall - A sushi restaurant will open where Dylan's Candy bar used to be (Dylan's inside bloomingdales also closed, what happened Ralph Lauren's daughter?). Puma is gone. Pinkberry is also opening another location.

Lol bic. After a period of relative quietness for obvious and understandable reasons, things are starting to pick up and are get exciting. Almost feels like 2003 and the start of our last big boom again

  23. Now that the tax has passed.... Does anyone know if it was contingent on dissolving the Downtown Community Redelopemnt tax? Not sure exactly what it's called but it was the tax where extra $ was funneled into dt, and there was talk of a trade-off a while back.
